Shark Bay, low tide, full moon SE around 10-13 kts. Rigged and on the water by 7.30 pm back on shore and knackered by 9.30 pm. Solo runs (cos theres no one else to kite with up here!!) with phosphoresent wake kicking up behind me and silky smooth water. Absolute bull** fun, still buzzing about it from last night and just had to tell someone, anyone. Have done it a few times now but last night was absolutely rockinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!

Shark Bay,

Sounds great ! Just out of curiosity why do they call it Shark BAY?

Is it because it's full of harmless sharks, or does it look like a shark

Always check how many fingers you have left after shaking the hand of a local up here. Its not the water you have to worry about!!

But talking of night kiting Ive been meaning to ask u bout the channel light. Would u be allowed to kite that at night When theres no moon & phosphoresence that is
Havent forgotten you - still planning to get up ASAP

And Hurrah - NO & NO.
Its cause it has the highest density Tiger shark population of any area in the world TRUE. (theyre the mean f**krs with the angry black stripes) Good place to stay on top of the water

Hey Puppet
That light your thinking of isn't on at the moment, it was lighting up an old pearling boat which is away for repairs at the moment. Just gotta wait for the right conditions like last night so you can see where you are going.
We have good sou easters today, 1 guy out at Monkey Mia this morning just round the corner from me at the dolphin area, probably a good 15 kts at the moment, so hopefully Denham will be on again this arvo and tonight yeehaw! Its been 2 weeks since having a kite cos theres been nooo wind so I'm amped.
Don't let the sharks worry you, if your that scared stay out of the water!!!!!

Someone track Damo down and let him know of this as he did a bit of nite kiting while he was teaching up there. He can tell you all about it.

Yeah the boys were rockin', Damo was jumping the old pearling boat when the light was on and everyone was carving bigs arcs around the boat coming into shore except for me I was kooking on a too small kite.
Few crew up from Perth the other month (how are ya boys!) who enjoyed the delights of nite kiting. Theres something real nice about sailing into a sunset and knowing you don't have to get outa the water until you want to not when the sun dictates.
But last night, I'm still amped from it, was just bull** and haven't stopped thinking about it all day. Fully lit by phospheresence and not a soul in the water.
No wind tonight, the SE was crankin'this morning, Monkey Mia was real good until lunch and Shell beach would have been *ucken unreal, anywhere on the east parts of the peninsulas open to the SE, but the buggers backed off.
If your cruising up, make sure the highs are just starting to rub up against the peninsula and thats when the SE kicks in early. So up on it in the morning and kite 'til lunch then try picking up backpackers in the arvo.
So looks like no nite kite tonight. Check it out from the few crew who have been up here and on it and if your goin'for it I'm comin'with you.
Aloha

Good to hear that you are still arcing up in Denham Ian. We all really enjoyed the night kiting concept, even better after a couple of cold ones.

It sure is an awesome spot you have up there. Only saw a small shark and a stingray whilst out on the water.

Keep up the good work.
Regards Dennis

Hey there King of the Castle. Good to hear from you again. This night kiting sounds freaky, but I can imagine that you will be smiling for months[:D. Will you be the first to catch a nice spaniard trailing a lure?........kite fishing, you will be the first to do it.

But wind here in P is awesome at moment. Can't wait to get up there (shootng from Spring) and I'll bring the glucosamine.

Nick
