Yesterday we had gusts up to 33kts at Brighton (Brisbane). 4 of us took out two buster 6's. The owners had never used them before. The 4 of us took our own boards out to the edge of the water and alternated on the kites.
To swap them we just let go of the bar: it flew up, the kite dropped (to the side of the window) and we swapped the chicken loop. Then the new guy would pull in about 1-2 metres of the centre leader line to reach the bar, feed it back slowly while holding the bar and the kite was up and away. It's a really sweet simple system. We were all really impressed with how well it works.
I think we all dropped the kite by accident at least twice.. just forgetting to hold onto the bar doing things like unwinding the lines after a roll or going to pass the bar from one hand to the other, letting go for a sec. But it was so simple to relaunch that it was never a drama, 10 secs and you were up and away again.
Yes you could fly one handed, but not for long. You have to keep a kite that small working, it's outta the zone before you know it. It was possible to lock it in from 25+ depending on rider weight, so we could all lock in and fly one handed during the gusts. It used some arm strength but not too much.
Overall we were all very impressed.. this would be an awesome kite for a young grom or small kitechick or a teaching kite in normal winds..
Thanks for that info, i have tryed looking up info with no joy. I have shyed away from buying the kite though as it was 9m version and i am worryed about my other half trying to body drag up wind one handed. i am now thinking of buying a aero 1 (brand new, old stock) and the shop is going to put new bar and safty on. What are your thoughts on that?
