Was thinking of road tripping it up to the sunshine coast from northern NSW in mid April. Just wondering if anyone can comment on likely wind conditions at that time of year? If it is no good was thinking a trip to far north QLD might be a better bet.
thats winter so sunshine coast will be pretty bad, you might get lucky but we can easlily get up to 2 weeks with not a breath of wind. Not to sure but pretty sure up north gets sick wind during that time (cairns etc.)
Actually it's the middle of Autumn, not Winter - although I admit Queenslanders tend to think in only two seasons, Summer and Winter.
The cyclone season extends into April so you do still have summer influences and seabreezes - just not as likely as earlier in the year. Sunseekers chart would be fairly typical I would imagine - 10 kiteable days sounds right and stacked toward earlier in the month.
I do not believe the SE tradewinds would have hit NQ at that stage, especially with La Nina around - it will likely be a late start.
The weather this year has been so different to last year and past years. Much like WA. We may get some late wind this year up to the end of April and maybe even early may in other words a late Autumn.
