Whoever designed them was of limited ability. It is bad product design and thoughtless development.

Yep the depower line replacement drove me farqen bonkers. Got all sorts of advice from various north people, do this do that...it was a complete cluster Farq. But to just say north limited design, without any specifications is a bit rich mate. Their kites are unreal. But yeh hopefully fixed this with the new bar. They went rope again, apparently the team riders said it is smoother with rope? Smoother than Tubing? Think someone is trying to pull someone's whatsit here.

I spent many hours changing depower ropes and cursed the entire universe for many hours.

Bag cabs all you want... They've got their systems down pat.. Cluster free, simple and not a rope to be seen... Been using and abusing them for years with not a mishap or malfunction ever...god bless Pete...

Yeh, you are right mate, North have some serious design problems. For example I have north surfboard and kites and they still don't do a gybe for me. Something always going wrong. It's a design fault for sure. And also my best mates son is a north team rider... So surely they should gybe. I just don't get it.

Yep I have to say not being a cab rider and never will, their bar is one of the best or best on the market. I always enjoy a ride on a cab just to get my hands on the bar, I will agree they make a bloody good bar.

Agree with the comments about how farquin hard it is to change the centre rope!

Wondering if somebody could give me some tips on the tuning now the rope is changed - Have only taken the kite out once since changing centre rope, but noticed a couple of times the kite started to fold in half! Was only happening when lines were under lots of tension. It was behaving a little like the leading edge was underinflated, however that wasn't the problem. How does the tuning using the vario cleat affect flight characteristics, I somehow think it may be related to what happened.

Anybody dealt with a similar issue?

Its a 9m Vegas

Are all your lines equal length when the bar is fully sheeted in?

Walk up and hold the metal ring at the base of the Y and ensure the three centre lines are equal also.

Do you have slack in the lower part of the 5th line below the Y (Red line and long lower blue line) when the trim is set to full power?

If not there are knots to adjust it at the top of the red section.....you can not have too much slack but you can have too little. Too much is messy though so check it when it's under load.

If that all checks out then you can forget the bar and lines as being the issue

Its funny that apart from the Cabrinha Crossbow 1,
North have pretty much introduced new designs their whole life span and those innovations have become industry standards that most b grade brands now use.

ride what you like, but just cos you cant change a depower line or turn your board around it doesn't mean the brand is a dud.

happy days

What's funnier is how brainwashed most north owners are.
Could you list some of these innovations that all the other brands

there is always pro and cons to designs and brands.
However, North is now by far the biggest Kiteboarding brand in the Industry and growing lots and that for a reason.

dont be gammin Rowdy, secretly you love North ;)

In no order:

- The RHINO
- 5th ELEMENT (industry standard for C kites)
- The VEGAS
- IRON HEART
- THE REBEL (changed kite designs from then on)
- TECHNOFORCE D2 fabric.

i also previously worked in a kite/windsurf shop and delt with many brands and rode many brands.

once i realised a lot of brands had features that north did 3 years before, it seemed crazy to keep using old technology.

Im happy to say i've now been on north for 5 years and have had many different models. Sure they're have been some small issues here and there but overall they tick all MY boxes.

to the original opening statement:

"Whoever designed them was of limited ability. It is bad product design and thoughtless development".

NORTH has one of the biggest R&D teams on the planet and their products are placing in all disciplines, at all levels and the best thing is its all lasting like a good product should.
What more does one want...

Yeah, I think my vegas is one of the sickest kites I have ever flown, but what a pain to change the centre rope.

Other than that, I totally love the performance of the kite, its awesome to kite with.

However, the realtively short life span of centre rope coupled with the difficulty of replacement means that I would still rate the Ozone C4 as the next 9 I buy cos they are awesome too, but have a more durable bar.

yes.... even though the quick release on the ozone is back to front :(
