G'day
well after seeing the coming week of red arrows, i think its safe to say this is the end of my first season of kiting, and first summer in WA. so the question goes....what does one do now? what do you people do in winter for a bit of a buzz? theres only so much beer you can drink during the day and im not game to venture out into the winter fronts. after kiting, everything else i used to do is now pretty boring

I agree everything else does seem boring !
Plan a kiting holiday, the trick is to book somewhere two - three months away. Then you will have something to look forward to during the start of winter then when you return just 3 months untill summer again. If you can afford, go more than once.

Go to the Gym and go Surfing.

Great waves in the winter, and the gym to get ready for next season.

Surf its the perfect compliment to kiting, completely different rush and feel, no rigging up or derigging, real chilled out atmosphere. Only worth doing when theres no wind. Take it up I did it last season and it kept me fit and happy. In fact I went for a surf today

Go get a dirtsurfer(www.dirtsurfer.com). You can even use it with a kite when there's not enough wind to kite on water. Just watch the jumps they hurt alot more on land.
If that fails grow snails.

As the desperation for a kite increases, as the local graphs show and produce bugger all, as the weather starts to cool dramatically.... need to get away......at least for a few days....
Been watching the graphs up north for a few weeks now... this is probably the worst I've seen....If those buggers up there ever complain....... www.seabreeze.com.au/gallery/gallery.asp?imageid=4201

get into triathlons.
did the brw corporate triathlon in march and now i'm hooked!
keeps you real fit and is a kind of cross training that you don't have to do in a gym (i hate gyms).
ironman triathlon is the 2nd of december in busselton, get training!

That's how I cope too.
With the help of the very essential kitesurfing trip mid-winter when I'm about to explode...

There's still plenty of wind during winter, just not the nice seabreeze. The best session i've ever had was smack bang in the middle of winter.
