A few shots from a session that went down yesterday afternoon. It may look **** on the graphs but take the chance and you could get lucky.

Another sick session in the bag today - no photos though as we forgot our camera.

There was plenty of carnage in cross offshore conditions.

3 Kiters
1 Windsurfer
35knt gust
Rain
Kiteloops
2 Busted Kiteboards

I bloody love Winter!

That`s what I like, people getting out there in winter. True kiters! Like sci said, never mind the graphs, just get out there. It`s a different experience and it`s great.
Excuse me I`m just in a naughty mood so forgive me. But where are all these so called locals down the pond (safety bay)? I see Simon there, Scottie, Manny, Pete who is always at Pengos, Jez, Blue, Micheal and Alan always show up through winter and one other chap. As far as I`m concerned the rest are just like the tourists that turn up in summer. And they want to have a say about what`s going on in their pond??? They want to complain about the Euros in the summer taking up all the space? I decare all the above mentioned the only true locals at "The Pond" and all the rest put in the same catagory as "EUROS". . Do you blame me?

Phrase, just because we don't kite the pond on a west or North westerly wind because it is pretty crap and prefer to spend winter in the waves, when the swell is all time, how does that make us just like the Euros.

You are right you are being silly, take yourself off to bed and have a cat nap, rethink your local attitude and come down to one of the waves breaks south of rockinham and have some fun.

If it has got any South in it then I'll see you at safety bay yeah.

Good point bobjaan. Sleep deprevation and Tooheys extra dry are no good for me.

What a shame sci post got derailed, as happens so often. Anyway I'm actually in the backgorund in some of those photo's sitting in my loader cabin at the wharf where that ship is alongside. I could see about 4 or 5 kites from my nice warm view point 50m in the sky.

Phrase, you best be keeping your opinions to your self. For one, I've never met you, I've been using safety bay to windsurf and kite since 1987 and before that fishing and diving outta my dinghy.

To be honest I don't think any of your list would ever of seen or remember it before turning into the crappy pond. The likes of the eldest rawson boys and Jason Lewis plus a few others have been kiting it for 10 years or more, they would remember the good old days before the island attached itself to the mainland. When the yatch club was actually a good social plus to setup, instead now there's an over kill of banners and pimping just encouraging teuro's and beginners to setup then walk over the nature reserve.

I also find it offence that you catorgorize me and my friends that didn't make your exclusive list same as these teuro's. They are free loaders, they come in their wicked campers and camp out in the yatch club carpark. They show no respect for anyone else on the water, I've actually seen a guy jump a girl windsurfer who was taking a break in knee deep water. They think it's ok to walk their kites at lunch through a nature reserve to land on grass in front of the carpark.....shall I go on.

That Phrase is why you probably don't see us around whilst your there, because we either go early or very late to avoid the circus. As far as winter goes why on earth would you go to safety bay unless there's no swell.

Noones hard core just because they go out in winter, I was out the other day on a 6m, gusts to 35-40knots kite unable to fly so I sat 200m out to sea for 5 mins and had a rest. I think it was WOK who kept riding and yahooing with his 4m in the horizontal squall. But that's OK because he dominates, you should see that man ride.

Come and say hi next time, I should be flying Eclipse kites by then if that helps.

Well I like to think I am man enough to admit when I`ve over stepped. That`s why I opologised. Don`t blame you (Sammy) for taking offence. But I did say it just as a bit of banter. But if anyone took it seriously, like I said I don`t blame you and I`m sorry.
About the "Euro" problem. We all know it`s a pain and let`s hope it works out a bit better next season.
True you don`t have to be hard core to kite in winter, just someone who enjoys what they do.

Fair enough, I think I've been kiting around to many grumpy old men tend to forget about the banter.

So this means the topic can get back on track then, lets see some more photo's. Heading out now, but no photo's from us as I don't know anyone that sits on the beach when there's wind.

Cheers Sam

Looks that way doesn't it?

So I'm the only kiter out on a very stormy day with just one surfer in the water on a beach that's 2-3 kms long.

He's almost impossible to see in the heaving lumpy conditions.

I pick off a wave from way out the back and he's paddling out after a previous wave. Just as it starts to peak, he swings around at the last minute and takes off.

Is it a drop in or a snake?

Yeah your right...technically its not really a drop in is it, more of a snake or a burning. Either way that surfer is on the inside and would be bummed and probably had the section close down in front of him. But if he saw you tracking the swell and swung around last second, well...slightly different story. His style certainly looks like he is a decent surfer and maybe he just belted the close-out section and all was good.

Anyways, sorry to get OT....Its a good pic, your carve looks pretty sick as well but you are a little busted by the drop-in, sorry burning police! hehe

Had a sic sesh today, slightly cross off, few nice waves peeling through, only had to shared with a couple of kite and poley friends. Even got a touch of sunburn from the 3.5 hours exposure on the water. Gotta love these winter days.
