Hi. Can anyone suggest a place in Perth where there will be kiters out during the working day?

I've been told of several places , including woodies.

Just like to sail where there are some out ... so that I can get a launch, help etc.... and somewhere with space to learn.

Going to be around perth 6 - 15 dec.

thx

Check out waksa.org.au for locations. Would say all but maybe Pelican Point. Just drive around the coast on a windy afternoon and look out for the bright crescent things in the sky.

Remember, here in Oz the work day stops when the wind comes in / it goes over 30C / there's some horse race over east / etc etc. Check out your Lonely Planet for more handy cultural pointers.

Where are you planning to live / kite?

Ksanty,

The WAKSA site is a good start.

The spots where lessons are given is another idea:
- Pelican Point on the river (for intermediate kiters)
- Pinaroo Point on the Ocean;
- Safety Bay in Rockhingham;
are the ones that I am thinking of...

Welcome, enjoy and kite safe!

If you're planning on staying in the city, then Melville is always populated with kiters from the second the seabreeze kicks in at about 3pm

Thanks guys for the responses.

I'm aware of the waksa site .... just wanted to know the best spot where there are peeps no matter the time of day. dont want to be driving/phoning around for a spot with peeps.

I should be staying at a couple of places in perth and freo. not sure where exactly yet.

@foosh - ur not wrong in getting the lonely planet .... completely lost touch with the place I grew up in. tho i should have the kiting side covered in melb.

The only advice I have for you is that Perth and Freo are a lot bigger (geographically, not population) than you expect, and that you pretty much need a car to go to any of the beaches, especially Woodies. If you have a car I would definitely plan a day trip up to Lancelin as well. I'm guessing since you are from the UK your main kite will be a 12m, so I think Melbourne will be a lot more enjoyable for you, unless you have a 9m in your kit bag as well. I found that on my 12m I was coming in just as the locals' day was starting in Perth.

All you have to do is drive up and down the coast looking for kites....have a ball

The weather has been absolute crap, worst start to season in 6 years...El Nino is gone and it is freezing and troughed out

Kiting daily.
