Was there kites involved? Or just waves? No green arrows today so I stayed home. Not even any yellow ones above 15 knots.

a few kites... but the wind only started blowing towards the afternoon I think.

I got home late from work (7pm), saw the ss guys coming out... there were two blue cab bow's out, a vegas 10m. Ian was on his foil... I only got out right at the end on my aging Co2... kited till dark.

That was the easily the best swell of the summer so far. It was 3.5m at Rotto 6pm. I went out from 6-8 having felt the wind graphs a bit light to be rushing home but the swell size was unexpected. All the Cottesloe breaks were pumping with up to 10" faces at the artificial reef. Wind was only 12-18kts though but pretty steady and enough to still be powered and fanging upwind on the amazingly grunty 12 hypertype. At least Cott doesnt have the downwind current that scarbs has so a light wind can still be do-able.

The artificial reef was almost really good but chop and wave speed makes it hard work. Good for one great reo on the left then just fades into deep water.

I Thought Deep six better with smoother faces.
On the plus side the light wind kept all but 2 Polers on the beach. It must have been enormous down South and at Lano.

I would love to see if anyone got some serious big wave photos.

6-8:30 at cott, basically had it to myself apart from some long boarders and surfers but that was just another fun opportunity to catch a perfect wave forming 10m away from them.
it was great and all the guys who thought there wasnt enough wind... i was cranking up wind on a 10 and 130, big waves made it glassy for 50m+ near th ebeach

did i mention it was awsome?

T'was awesome fun Love to see some pix - saw Dale & Marty tucking into a few barrels - with the light behind the waves I'm sure some epic shots were taken that will make it into the mags - video would have been great too but I only saw stills on the beach?

well, just drove past beach... sadly swell has faded to "average" Scarbs conditions... it is, however, somewhat windy already at about 15 knots and looking quite fun

I counted 25 kites, 3 poles and about 5 lids/surfers out at brighton and ventnor st with about 13-18knots and well over head high sets.
it was a massive swell, most big ones closing out, but I saw a few kitrs come through the pit and avoid the washing machine
A few of the surfers seem to just be dropping in on the kiters, but the kiters were cutting it up. camera battery was flat unfortunately.
