The last episode of Sir Richard Bransons The Rebel Bilionaire, showed a kite surfer with a grown women on his back. He was going rather fast across a very large streth of water.

I know the wind was pretty extreme (he even pulled a big air).

Just wondering if this is a possibility for the average kite surfer?

Has anyone else actually tried it?

I tried being towed behind Dan one day when he was really overpowered on a 12m Gaastra GXR 03. I grabbed his harness handle, he power dived, and we both got going, both on separate boards (little things too, 130 wave trays or something).

He even went for a jump, which launched him, and slowly but surely took me off the water too.

There was a lot of clanking of rails, extreme pressure on his harness handle and kite setup. We were probably lucky nothing broke. I'm sure it would work a lot easier with some FLXs or something else nice and wide.

I saw this one day at Noosa, the 2nd guy was holding a short rope, maybe a board leash. It worked fine, they were having fun with it. I remember thinking the 1st guy would have been a little overpowered alone, but not seriously.

I've taken people body dragging (hanging off my harness handle) behind a 10, 14, 18. Even the 10 has pulled the second person surprisingly well. I'd guess once up and planing a board would provide less drag than a stomach..

Hi guys,

At Augusta I tied a short rope to my harness and towed a friend of around equal weight on his board up and down the river there. We were both riding at normal kiting speed and the only problem was in the turn, I turned the kite over the top when I should have down turned so I wouldn't get lifted off the water.

Also dragged Andy Rawson in at the Jurien Bay Classic a few years ago when he let go of his kite. He just hung onto my harny handle and rode his board in until the rescue boat came and took over.

Towed a few surfers across the channel at Lano to save them a big sharky paddle. Surfers are easy as they have so much planing area. This really opens the doors to tow in surfing!

If you recall in one of the old kite videos, an Airush rider towed Conner Baxter (little kid) in the surf tube until they went over the wave and he got flipped out. hehehe

it's all good fun, give it a go!

Good winds and Peace
