Sorry to bring this up on the main forum, but I thought the behaviour of some forum members was a clear sign of poor form.

I thought this forum was about kite surfing and that gear reviews are part of our sport. So if someone like myself can't write a review about a kite I just tested without being called a pimp who can???

1. I have always ridden what I like (I had Naish, Slingshot, Wipika, North, Flexifoil, Best and now Cabrinha). Currently Cabrinha is what I like best.

2. I always test new gear to see if there is something I like better than what I currently have. Some of you may say I'm full of **** for spending so much money on kiteboarding. Well, I work hard and kite boarding is what I look forward to. So let me do what I want with my money, and I won't tell you what should do with yours.

3. I have put quite a bit of time into those reviews and tried to be as objective as I can.

4. I have only compared the Contra to other Cabrinha kites. Unlike some of you guys, I haven't made other kites from other brands look bad in those comparisons

5. I have never at any point (again, unlike quite a few here) made claims that the Contra is the best kite ever, the highest jumping kite, the best hang time, the best wind range, etc.

People complain about any reviews:

Magazines: Complaint - They can't write anything bad about gear because they are affraid to lose the advertiser. Conlusion = No good. You guys will complain

Team Rider: Complaint - Team riders have to write good things about their brand. Otherwise they will lose their team rider deal. Conclusion = No good. You guys will complain

Shop Owner: Complaint - The shop owner has a financial interest. Conclusion = No good. You guys complain

Hmmm.... Conclusion = Let's not make any reviews, because you guys (the ones that complain) only like reading reveiws about your own brand and only if it's good. My conclusion = Stupid and No good.

So if you're not interested in a review don't read it. No one forces you to do so. But there are quite a few people thinking about what to buy and there are far too many choices to demo. Personally I would hope to see more reviews on Seabreeze so I know what I want to test next.

I can only summarize these reactions as poor form.

If you are smart enough to 'Review' put it in the 'Review' topic.

The whole 'comment thing' (good or bad) is what they call an opinion, its what makes the world such a wonderful diverse place.

P.s I did enjoy reading your reviews

Moritz/Phillipp,
People see you purchase a lot of the latest greatest gear and post glowing and thorough reviews of them on the forums, before they believe you they want to know your agenda.

You only recently posted-
"I have paid for all the kites I have owned so far (including the Contra). I'm not affiliated with any brand or shop at the moment. I pay retail (not RRP - as no one does I would hope), but I don't get them at wholesale or team rider pricing. I probably get a better price than some as I buy a lot of kites every year."

This is the first time I have seen you declare this. I think it is fair to think people will call you "pimp" until proven otherwise.

Gear reviews belong in the "Gear Reviews" section, where they have been moved to, this was probably the reason for some of what you call "poor form".

Don't take this as an an attack on you, but maybe you need to look at your posts from the perspective of a regular kiter to understand why they might take your reviews of very recently released gear as "pimping".

This forum has begun to resemble a primary school playground, but with adult negativity, spitefulness, and kooky pointless humor.

No one forces any of you who always whinge and moan, to read this post or any post, so before you fire back a witty bit of self amusing, useless, negativity, think again, do something better with your time, but please don't get on here and whinge and moan about HAVING to read this post of mine or ANY post of ANYONES!.

Who else is fed up with the continual off topic childish banter that fills and destroys almost all good threads on this forum?
Especially any product related posts!

Why shouldn't any legitimate user and retail purchaser of gear be able to discuss that gear freely here in the main forum without the usual brand/shop/ pimps bitching and complaining that it should be deleted, is that naughty advertising thing, or it should be moved to some other area where it will not bother them so much.?????

Look at the description for this section of the forum, one of the words is "what", isn't it ok to presume that "what" could include the things we use, to do this sport?

Lets ease up a bit on the negativity, and personal slagging, especially all the kooky, pointless drivel, by all of the usual suspects, and you know who you are.

Cya and

Goodwinds

Hey Moritz,

Don't get all stressed out mate, plenty of people enjoyed your reviews including me. I thought it was well written and thorough. My only comment is that it is a review of gear, and as such it belongs in the gear review section. It really stands to reason doesn't it?

We have a gear review section which is designated only for gear reviews, as such people who are interested in gear reviews go there where they do not have to schlep through the regular forum banter and can read only what they want unhindered.

Why even have a gear review section if you choose to bend the rules and post where ever you want? Next thing people will be putting for sale items in the General category because this too could be deemed of interest to kiters, but we don't because we have rules on this forum and topic categories which help keep the forum orderly.

No one wanted the posts deleted, just moved to their rightful place.

Good winds to all,

Thank you.

As some of you may have noticed, I don't post much on this forum. I simply assumed that similar to kiteforum.com most posts that are in other sections are not really read by many.

As a result, most people post on the main forum to ensure they get read and the discussion initiated. After a while, reviews get moved to the review section.

If this forum is different I'm happy to put future reviews in the review section. Bottom line is that the intention is to give others a view on a product. Many may not agree with it, but it may help some to narrow down their choices, not make them for them.

All Reviews should be written in the format Moritz has made the effort to create.

It is easy to read and understand. He has made a conscious effort to help people make a choice in spending their hard earned cash on an expensive piece of equipment.

It is a selfless act. He could of said nothing and we would learned nothing. I personally read alot of reviews from multiple websites before buying a kite and then make my decision. Moritz has answered all the Q's I usually need to know:
1.Kite size
2.wind range
3.rider weight
4.size board when riding kite of that size
5.build quality
6.power/de-power
7.boost/hangtime
He has answered all these and more.

Good on you Moritz you give awesome reviews. I hope you keep us up to date on more products. Its easy for people to be negative than positive.

What do you mean"My only comment"?

You also said something along the lines of"Move it to the review section before you p1ss a lot of people off" !!!

Whos getting p1ssed off? You?

Totally uncalled for negativity.
Also, did not the heading make it quite clear what the subject was?

I enjoyed the review, and took everything with a pinch of salt as one should with any review......never a totally unbiased review imo.
I echo others..........reviews in review section.

Hi Moritz

Thanks for your reviews on the contras. I found them really useful and didn't consider them pimping at all. However they should be in the review section where I normally look for reviews.

A person should be able to review a kite without fear of ridicule - how else can we find out how new gear performs without going out and testing all the new stuff ourselves. As long as the reviews are non-biased, objective and useful - bring them on.
