Is it possible to change the Quick Release system on a handle bar as am not happy with mine (red ball to pull down) as I feel that it might not be easy to locate in an emergency. This might sound like a simple question but how crucial is the QR system on a bow kite?
Any advice appreciated

Depends what brand but most are prety easy to switch over. How crucial is your quick release? depends how much you value your life lol, North ironheart and the airush release are the style you want to look at,
Thanks

Qr release system is crucial for sure, some are easier to change then others best to get to the local kite shop and see what the've got or reccomend. 06 07 sligny is really simple and no loosable parts can easily be reassembled on or off the water.

QR is not crucial in any way. It is handy if you get into a ****ed up situation, both your legs and arms are broken, you're brain is moving in to a koma and you've only got one move to make, to pull the QR. Apart from that QR is highly overrated.
I've kited almost 5 years now, started when the safety systems weren't very well developed as they are today, and I have never ever used my QR once.. I've had quite a few crashes, ofcourse, some pretty bad ones, but never pulled the QR. Better to learn and get yourself out of those situations without getting rid of your kite. Seen far too many people reaching for their QR as soon as they wipe out rather than learning how to handle it and work it out.
I just got an Atom with the new bar. The QR is remade from the old strike2/firestorm bar to make it easier but the second day I tried the kite I found myself accidently hitting the QR with my hand after crashing a handlepass.. NOT GOOD!! So removed the "5th line" (that totally suck cause it tangles the **** out of the chicken loop and even sometimes the steering lines, and removed the centerline, put on my old centerline from strike2/firestorm bar and old chickenloop (also the new chickenloop stinks) and voila, I got a great bar and a great kite, with a great QR that is easy to use, should I ever have to use it. And it doesn't release involentarily..
Bottom line is, mod your bar/chicken loop/line to suit you and your style of riding/using it cause cause you won't find a factory made product that is perfect for you..
