Nah mate - kiting

Here's hoping Sat & Sun are good...Monday too for that matter - might take that off too.

Got out for the day on Tuesday but it was gusty as - had the 10m up for a change of scenery - just as well 'cos it got a bit sketchy at times, kite reversing into the power in the gusts....still fun tho!

Just that tomorrow is 29 degrees...northerly...butter flat water...cant wait

Hey hope you had a good kite today, the sun doesn't seem like it has come out! I wish I din't have to work and could be out there too

Where are you going tomorrow, it looks like it could be a good weekend in melbourne

Went out on Wednesday night to St Kilda, it was a bit gusty but built to a nice breeze around 7pm before dropping out again.

i think plenty of kites were at St Kilda on wed - i counted more than 40 at one point. After a lesson I was the guy on the land uping and landing kites whilst i wait patiently for my kite to arrive this Mon/Tues Damn the quality wind for the weekend......curse you AustPOST for taking 3 working days to get me my kite [}:)]

p.s anyone in the area selling a board & harness let me know cause im keen to organise one pretty quickly

What size board are you after. We have a 165 stonker twintip which is pretty good for beginners that we would be willing to part with.

I was pretty crowded down there and it will only get worse as summer brings more people out, hope your lesson went well and your kites arrive soon, what have you bought?

I got a 14m vegas 04 - im 82 kg. Its prob a little too big initially, but ill grow into it I've been recommended to get a slightly smaller board as the larger kite will require it - im probably just going to be careful to use it initally in the lower wind ranges. I dont really want a board that will only last me three sessions - looking for something around 130-135. LMK what you recommend - i will be kiting mostly at brighton and st kilda - so what do you guys mostly use?
I've done plenty of snowboarding/wakeboarding, but im not yet riding behind a kite.
Cheers

The forcast 4 the coast is a bit better.

I will be at Breamlea on Sat. doing some lessons.

Hurley, if you feel like the drive there are a couple of my teaching boards about to be updated. you could try them out. Harnesses too.

Best winds

who ever learnt anything from an exam.

If you don't know the answers now, you never will.
Schools are just Mushroom farms. They keep you in the dark and feed you Bull***t.

How ya gunna get a job if ya waste ya time goin to exams?

Get your mate to drive. you can cram in the car.

I hope the exam is on negotiating your rights away. Very useful.

Or you could be either a hairdresser, accountant, or telephone sanitiser. I hear they will be the first to be evacuated when the earth is doomed.

By the way, the answer is

i swung past GNOTUK's today at about 11:15 and it was cross OFF shore, so as a guess N-NE or so i decided against it, however awsome flat water, if only i has skilled enuff to kite in an offshore. some wallie was rigging up, but meh to him.

Well the report was....got down to Pt Henry early...no wind - drove to Pt Richards & PortArlington, it was starting to pump there - so had to make a decision to drive back to Henry or get on the ferry at Queenscliff and admit I took the wrong fork in the road when I left Melb this morning - always a toss up between Henry and Rye/Rosebud.

Anyway headed back to Henry, a few locals rolled up - we chewed the fat - Joel played around on his landboard for a while. Then it came up about midday and stayed in until about 3pm when it died - kites in the water etc.

When it was on it would have been around 20 knots at ground level and 5-10 knots more up the top - 5th line on the 14m was a help. Lots of boosting had by all - some very funny high speed stacks and face plants - the extra wind up high made for long floaty jumps

Packed up & back home in Melb by 5:30pm..all in all worth the effort - but certainly not an epic sesh by any means...for that you want sun out and fully filled in wind window with steady breeze of around 20 knots.

Tomorrow looks like it will have west in it - bleah, usually gusty in Melb. Probably head to Altona, but as an outside chance might do Inverloch camp overnight & kite the inlet.

Enough
