Anything on a kite is dangerous if you don't check and maintain your gear. You should check pulleys every now and again to make sure there is no play. If there is, replace them like with any part of your gear that is looking worn.

Replace worn pulleys, the pulley will only jam like that when it is well worn, takes quite a while to wear them away unless you do not rinse the bar before use.

The replacement pulley costs around $13 in Australia and are widely available ffrom good kite shops and marine stores. They take only a few minutes to change, replce worn leader lines with originals or with 3mm amsteel or equivalent line, at the same time.

Any machinery, and our bow kite with moving parts require maintenance. The old Wipika Airblasts use to break rear bridles easily if they were not maintained, and then you had a real kitemare on your hands.

This is not rocket science, maintain your gear, pulleys do not last forever neither do bridles or flying lines. Do not blame the kite or the manufacturer, just take personal responsibility and maintain your own gear, read the instruction manual warnings.

you could do you 1000 point pre flight checks and carry spare pullys and bridle line in your maintenance bag and tool kit that you have to take with you every time that you go to the beach......or you could just get a well designed kite that doesnt need pullys and over complicated bars and bridles.

KISS keep it simple stupid.

there are kites on the market these days where you dont need all this extra **** that just complicates your time on the water.

get out there and have fun

You dont raise an eybrow towards a model of car and question its reliability & saftey if it skids off the road into a tree because the tyres were bauld.
Same with kites, bikes, boats, parachutes, girls etc... every thing needs a little preventive maintanance.

Except maybee for XR 400s they just keep going for eva

You got to be pretty careless not to pay attention to something on the bar getting worn and not fixing it.. It’s not like you don’t look at it some stage of setup/pack up of lines to not notice any worn pulley and the obvious repercussions. Ok maybe the pulley on bridles could be an excuse for not checking them from time to time.. This guy must kite enough to wear the pulley out and more obviously enough to breed complacency which seems to be a more consistent theme of accidents.
*stands off podium*

I love the pulley system on my two bows and also the bar pressure reinforces the fact i am holding onto something very powerful and being able to be more aggressive with the bar is to me a personal preference. Don’t knock the bows (just the riders, hehe)!!!!

the pully's need to be cleaned of debris , sand ,sea weed ya mum undies, evry time you use it.
cabrinha gear rocks(it is the safest on the market) remember that bow kites are in there bigining stages of developmentand can only get better.
don't have a go at the equiptment have a go at the dude that cant keep up with the maintenance on his or hers gear.
