Any kiters with knowledge of the Auckland region know of a good kite spot when it is blowing NW? Tomorrow's supposed to be pumping, and I want to find some flat water.
I am eyeing up Waionui Inlet near South Head. Are there any issues with access along any of the roads out there? Also, is the best kiting in the Inlet itself, or around inside the harbour a little more?

If you want flat water stay in town, you can't get better St Heliers on low tide if it's NW. Or even Bramley...

Not too gusty as it comes across the land?
Was hoping to try a new spot and get away from the crowds. Ever been to South Head? Wanting to know about any access issues specifically, and maybe a spot tip like stay away from the stingray breeding ground or submerged frigate, you know, that sort of thing.

either st heliers, kohimarama or pine harbour will work in a NW if my memory is right
and murawai beach on the west coast if you want waves

pine harbour works well in a NW as most of the wind comes through a channel so its not too gusty, there's a nice little flat spot though if you know where to find it at the right tides..
St helier would probably be a good place too if you get a good NW into it so it comes between the islands.

Bit late now but if it was mid/low tide then Meola Reef accessed from the end of Garnet Rd in Pt Chev makes a great flat water speed spot.
