Hey Bondo,

I had 3 RRD's sent over from SOS in WA. It was sent on Wednesday and I had it Friday with Toll, don't know if it's usually that fast though.

I got 2 type 7's and a type wave by the way and love them! Took the 9m Type 7 out for the first time today in the surf, heaps of fun till I stacked in the shorey's and got the kite covered in sand and seaweed.

Hey Jeff, thanks for the reply! Yeh I was considering buying a smaller type wave for the depower and fast turning. I was wondering whether I could use the bar on my other kites (18 BFK, 12 Caution) to achieve a similar depower effect. Also, how do you find the jumping on the wave?

I've got a 15m wave so I'm guessing it would be a bit different than the smaller ones. I was told by another rider that the TW didn't jump that well but I went out with it in about 15 knots and was doing fairly decent sized jumps (~20ft quite easily).
The bar is compatible with other 5th line kites too so it'd work with your other kites. It just means that your kite wont have that span limiter to stop it from rolling over itself and going to the side like the TW does.
Hope that helps mate

hey Jeff and Bondo,

I sell the RRDs at SOS in WA, and fly them myself. The Wave Type2s are the fastest turning kites ever. The 15 is fast for a 15, but as you go down the sizes you find they're more fun down to the 8 which is amazing. Honestly the fastest kites I've flown.

The depower bar is unreal. You can get it standard on the type 7 or the type wave. It takes away your ability to to have a standard, spinning 5th line leash, but it gives you total depower, without taking your hand off the bar. A bow kite has similar depower, but it takes a longer length of chicken loop to be able to completely kill the kite (3 or 4 metres). No one can reach that far to be able to totally depower while hanging onto the bar. Also the wave kites are able to be turned (or looped) while depowered.

I've also tried to put the total depower bar on other non RRD kites. It worked okay with a Airush Pilot 6m, but not a Gaastra Vision 6m. My theory: the vision has a really deep foil shape, and it was hard to push the bar away to get it to tip forward. Also neither kite would retain its power and flow through vicious turns as well as the type wave or type7 (I'ved used it with a 5m and 7m Type7s). You know when you crank a kite around and a bad kite deforms, stalls, then jerks off again.

I pinched Jeff's kite for a go (what was it Jeff a 12M wave?) And it had a suprising low end for a kite with lots of depower, is stunningly fast for a 12 and probably due to its speed boosts very big (you go up fast). Bar pressure is light but positive and you don't need to move your hands away from the centre of the bar at all.
Has very wide tips so it turns super quick.

It would take a while for me to control the speed but once used to that an amazing kite.
Thanks Jeff - Al.
