A while ago I asked for some help with how to self rescue with Recon 2

I have since had some time to practice as we had quite a lot of boat pickups in Fiji. One this I noticed it that after letting the safety go there was still a lot of power in the kite pulling me down wind and making it hard to pull the one line in. However on some occasions the kite would completly depower and roll over and sit there like in the instruction video.

Is there something extra that I need to get this to happen all the time, is it that my bullets are getting stuck??

Thanks

i would say sand in the holes for the bullets.
can usually free them by jerking line.

or you could have snapped carbon rods.

So after I pull the safety I should give the back lines a pull to dislodge the bullets?

What are snapped carbon rods and how would I tell if this is the case...

you would know if the batten is broken. It is the rod that the recon line runs through at th ends of the kite.

I have had similar problems, I don't thik it is as good a system as a 5th line. On a windy day it can still have a lot of pull even with the trailing edge bunched up.

not nessicarily, as the battons are carbon they would not just snap, they would split lengthwise and make it easy to bend, i think recon is equally good to 5th line, and you dont have the added complication of an extra line or the extra line drag. in my opinion recon2 is the best setup available, i am interested to see what the new one is like.

I'm pretty happy with he recon2 system, apart from this issue, I don't think there is a problem with the rods but I will double check them before I go out next time.
I only bought my quiver last season and can't afford to change just yet even if I wanted to!
