True, not directly about kiting. It is about a 60 year old kiter and waterman who saved two surfers through ability and heart in some fairly intense circumstances. In that way it has a bit in common with Mark Barnett's astounding NSW rescue of two tow-in surfers,
fksa.org/showthread.php?t=742 . Or other rescue stories in "Way To Go" about other guys in Oz and beyond saving others.
These are stories of watermen who do what they love and sometimes pull others back from the edge. Standup is growing worldwide and among kiters too. Just one more possible benefit that comes with it. I suspect there are quite a few thinly populated kiting launches in Australia. Some might copy Ray's example in carrying a standup board just in case.
