Has anyone kited at Rotto in an Easterly wind? Just wondering if it’s possible/safe, some of the bays on the East side look sheltered if things go wrong!

I've kited Thompson's Bay on an easterly but it was on a quite day in April with hardly any boats moored in the bay. There are heaps of moorings to watch out for that can easily foul your lines if your kite is in the water. Same goes for many other popular bays!

I always thought it would be magic if you could score a good easterly with some swell and kite at Transit. Even if no swell if you tack out to this area I think it would be a good option. Nice clear water with sandy bottom and shallow enough in places to stand (low tide).

Sounds good. Thanks for the advice, might give it a go, just need some swell now! Could get some great shots with the kite cam - the water at rotto is so clear.

The recent ones visible in my profile were taken at a secret spot along the Ningaloo coast
