Today would have been a bewdy for a Rotto day-trip!

Would anyone recommend Rotto's Southern beaches (near the youth hostel, or Porpoise Bay or Salmon Bay)on a 25 knot SSW?

Has anyone kited (or at least been tempted to) on the salt lakes?

Apart from the wind turbulence, the pain of salt-in-yer-eyes, and a by-law or 2, it'd be sensational!

Hi Rohjar,
Rotto is great for kiting. Salmon bay in a SW or Natural jetty in Thompson Bay. Today(SAT) would be great in Thomos with near on 20 knot straight easterly. Kited it before, very steady breeze there for an easterly. If there is swell, you can kite over to Transit reef and hack that up!!
Have a good one!!

sounds like fun until it shifts south easterly and you end up floating to madagascar.

Suggest you do a forum search on this, many entries to date.
BTW, Natural Jetty is the ****tiest place on the whole of Rotto to sail in a sea breeze. VERY gusty as the wind comes off Parker Point. Shame, because the water is great.
