I ran it by a few guys and it was too big a haul considering the drive back (everyone loves a beer!).
We probably need to get a Brisbane club going as well as the seqka is pretty much goldie based anyhow.

Or, maybe have social nights in Sunny Coast, Brisbane and Goldie if seqka want to incorporate the whole region?

BTW wht's the go with the aksa thing, is there a sunnycoast branch as well. There is the cquksa in brisbane that padi runs and the seqka - any others form noosa to the border?

It would be great to organise more in other areas than Goldie.
I personally would like to go up to Brissy or the sunshine coast for social days, meet the locals and kite in new locations.
I think the main reason is that the committee is made up of Gold Coast people and it is just easier to hold events close to home. I don't agree with this but believe that the only way that this will change is for more people from other areas of SE QLD become pro active, attend meetings & join the committee.
Once again the next meeting will be held on the Gold Coast 18 Sep 07. It would be great if we could get people down for the meeting but also understand that to come from Noosa after work you most likely will not make it to the meeting before it is due to start.
I guess a motion should be put forward that the next meeting after this one should be held in a different location (meaning outside of the Gold Coast).
Also the AGM has to be called before 18 Dec 2007. I will vote for it to be held in Brisbane as it is the half way point of SE QLD. I would love to see a wide range of committee members voted in at the AGM to represent the community as a whole, not just the Goldie pocket.
This will work just the way is does with the AKSA and WAKSA who have committee members miles away from each other using the internet and phone to hold meetings and make it work for the entire area.
So come please take the time to consider if you have the time to contribute to SEQKA because we need you. Everyone from SE QLD is valuable so don't doubt yourself get involved as your opinion does count.

Great night!!! good to see 60 odd people turn up and all have a good time its good to see so many people showing support of seqka and i know this will be a great year for kite surfing in south east Queensland. Don't forget general meeting on the 18th sep if you have topics or issue's or suggestions that you would like to bring up this is the best time so if you have anything contact the seqka secretary and he will put it on the agenda.

cheers Paul

My recommendation would be that SEQKA remains and just more actively incorporates Brisbane and the Sunny Coast, that way you reduce all the overheads and work and spread it across far more people.

WAKSA is implementing local user groups to assist with this. Under the umbrella of WAKSA, local groups can organise events, but use the skills, knoweldge and assets of the larger group, that way more events can happen with less paperwork.

WAKSA attempts to service over 1/3rd of Australia and does a pretty good job of it, and is working to make sure regional WA gets more events. There's no need to have 3 clubs formed in an area as small as South East Qld.

My thoughts... hopefully see you at the GM

So, if there is a waksa is there a qaksa and we could all local area groups / clubs reporting to them? Or should we all have local groups in queensland reporting to seqaksa ?

Sorry to keep asking questions, there just seems to be alot of grey areas with regards to aksa and the website was 2 years behind last time I looked.
I emailed all the aksa people and only got one phone call reply from a member as a response.
I get asked all the time from alot of kiters what to do re joining if at all and I can't really answer them as it's not really clear cut.

Waxa, Quacksa, Sexqua- F uck me!!
The truth of the matter is that SEQKA is the only viable, active club around. The club is well run and well supported, a credit to the current president and commitee

I wonder how many of the clubs/associations are non-profit.

My understanding is that all of the clubs have to be non-profit to remain a club, under ATO rules if you grow cash reserves by more than 10% over a 12 month period, you become a profit making entity and therefore have to form a business/company.

Certainly AKSA and WAKSA are non-profit, I'm guessing all the others are too.
