I would like some feedback on using a SLE Hybrid control bar on my Catapult C Kite.

Hey Prea

Is it a pulley bar 1:1 & 2:1 etc ?

In general 'all bars' with equal line lengths will work on most kites. If the kite has been designed to fly with longer front lines (some Peter lynn foils had them..) then all you would need to do is put a short line directly on the kite - to use the equal line length bar. Doing this will let you use the bar for different kites too.

Swivell bearings & above/below depower with various amounts of adjustment is the difference.. for example to make my 12 torch turn faster - I used a longer Peter Lynn bar with depower strap (its longer than standard), Best flying lines, Naish leader lines - 5th line & chicken loop.

Try different settings - adjustments as long as you are confident in using your Quick Release it can save you some MooLah & youll learn a lot

it is a 1 to 1 setup
I am not a fan of the velcroe style of the quick release on my c kite (bad past experience) they dont work under load
Will the bar depower or oversheet the c kite too much

The bar will be fine

If your really unsure, adjust flyting lines to the middle knots on pigtails or leader lines then test - an inch makes quite a difference in power or left/right kite stability.

The velcro has & still does work faultlessly if set properly, maintained & rechecked before every launch. Alot of people have also had their secondary release let go when theyve pulled chicken safety... kite flies off in the distance. They never bothered to check that and it slowly slide along over time...

All major brands have a metal release loops available as well as Accessory ones...

Hope this helps

Umm if you have too much depower on the bar, when you drop the bar suddenly, as the kite crashes at edge of window it flips onto its face, might pay to chuck a stopper on so that it doesnt over depower. what catapult model is it?

check also your safty release, I used my best bar (from a nemi)on a c kite, got well over powered pulled the release and bar only travels out 1.5m kite was still well powered as both front lines were still attached together, lucky for me as i was being dragged along oyster beds two other kiters came and landed kite. I always had airush bars on my c kites and never had any problems with the saftey.
