Hi - for rally users out there, which knots do you use for your line settings, be it a surfboard and or a tt (specify?), and for what type of conditions ? I havnt experimented too much, so just gauging what others use for preferred setting and why ? Is there really much difference ??
Damn ankle injury, Ive just missed the best 2 weeks of winter for surfing and kiting, so bored and on forum
hopefully back this week trying out some different knot settings
knot 3 from the end for all conditions on all lines. depowering or powering up the kite just seems to make it respond a little 'wrong' But OMG how much do you love that kite!!!!!!!! After 6 years of kiting its put the"fun" back into it .
I have had a Rally since the first demo hit QLD last year and this is my second winter using it in gusty winter conditions. I have found that yes the 3rd not on the outside lines all the time are perfect but use the first or end not on the center lines. The kite seems to sit more stable when hit by gusts on these settings. Through summer in a cleaner wind i dont think it makes much difference as i have tried all settings at length and the kite has never given me a problem.
The rally is one kite I have found very little difference whatever you do. But thats WA so Jas may be right for those who have to grapple with lesser quality wind. [}:)] What I can say is looking for extra bottom end by powering up on the knots doesnt improve things - if anything it just makes it even more obvious that its time to blow up that bigger kite. NB - only experience is with mid size Rallys (8M & 10M) - bigger & smaller may well be different.
What do you mean "it makes it respond a little wrong"???
I have always run mine on the 2nd knot on outsides and first on inside lines with no probs and flies great. I have never really tried other settings as TOW is too rare.
