I have just received the terrible news that our kiting mate Alan Prince passed away yesterday as a result of a mountain bike accident.
I'm completely shattered. Al was one of the all time nice guys and was tremendously supportive to me during the time I lost my eye in a kiting accident in WA.
My heart goes out to Wendy and Alan's two sons. This is so sad.

RIP Al ....your mate col

A very sad day , I can only speak for myself but kiting for me will never be the same as I did alot of kiting with the big fella , shared some of the best times with him eg WA ,Mambo and all those down winders we did together down the coast.

What is even worse he leaves behind a Lovely wife Wendy ,his two sons Tom who is eight months old and Sam who is around seven years old.

Its a strange thing life one minute your here and the next minute your gone for good and Big Al had so much to live for.

Will miss you alot mate.

Whenever the boys where planning a kiting trip , my first thought was always, "Is Big Al going?" because if Al went it was sure to be a very fun time. Al was still a naughty Brittish schoolboy at heart and enjoyed life to the full. He was a joker on weekends away and got huge enjoyment from his kiting and bike riding. Its hard to believe he's gone, because he was such a genuine, nice bloke and a good friend. My thoughts are with Wendy and his boys. Rest in Peace Big Al.

Big Al I miss you already mate!!!

When I see you next buddie I’ll join you for one of those barely cooked steaks that you love and you can spin a yarn or two about riding that strapless Mick Fanning in 25 knots in double overhead waves. Rest In Peace till then Big Al

I first met Al some 15 years ago when we were both windsurfers. Al was part of the Kurnell windsurfing crew later turning into the Kurnell kiting crew. Also part of the WA "away" crew, Mambo crew and downwinder crew. I have lost a great mate and also my wing man. Al was always such a cheerful and chatty bloke and endeared himself to all who met him. He will always be in our thoughts whenever we are on the water. All our support and thoughts go out to Wendy, Sam and Tom. Fly high big Al.

I can't believe this has happened. Al was always one of the friendliest blokes at the beach and loved to have a chat and a laugh. We've lost an all round top bloke. RIP Al and my deepest sympathy to his young family - Paul

Big Al was a good bloke.
Al will be sadly missed, and so will another mate Dave Ward (Big wave dave) who passed away last week after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

Human life is uncertain make the most of it experience as much joy and happiness as possible. Best wishes for Al and Daves families

Terrible news all round.

My condolences to Wendy and the boys.

All those who knew Al would agree that he was the kind of bloke you wished there were more of. Many more of.

Things just won't be the same without Al.

Same here, I windsurfed & kitesurfed for many years with Al, the big fella
liked big surf and Wanda was his playground , he always cracked a good joke on
them nailey big days when we had second thoughts about setting up to go out ,
and he didn't mind being hammered and then get washed up on the beach with a big smile on his face, a real hell man & a great loss for us all.

all our thoughts are with Wendy and her boys

RIP Al.

The number of people who attended his funeral and had to queue out the door was a good reflection of how well he was liked and respected.

Love to Wendy and the kids

have to agree with this - anyone who can talk 20 mins obout a dear departed one without cracking up in tears is amazing. Wendy was awesome and held herself together untill her last sentence. She had us all in tears and laughter recounting many different stories of Al. As you can expect it was a sad day for all
