Maybe because 2-3 yr old gear is so good these days - joe blogs is harder to sell Boosted kitehype prices when theres so much good used stuff about.

unless your a pro rider on the Edge... its hard to gauge the difference thus going the cheaper alternative works for a lot of people - as youve experienced.

I can understand why the market for kites marketed as "high performance>intermediate to advanced" is perhaps a bit smaller, this would apply to the 11m Edge2 I currently have (yes, on sale ). However, I thought my previous hybrid kite earlier this year, a 12m 2008 North Rebel, would be easy to sell, given that it was forgiving, had massive wind range and was practically brand new. Nope. Took a few months to sell at over $700 off the retail price. My previous 9m and 12m 07 Rebels went quicker and in my opinion were not as good. The 06 12m Vegas I had before that was snapped up in a day or two after almost 12 months continuous use at a half decent price. I won't bore you with the details of all the other kites I bought and sold before that....

At the end of the day, it's a hobby/sport and you pay a certain amount each year to enjoy it. It's too bad that the cost per kite seems to be going up at a fairly significant rate with each year that passes. Can always stop buying new gear I guess, but that's part of the fun.....

Buschy, Buschy my boy you seem like a decent sort of fellow who enjoys a good hit of caffeine and focuses on the positives in life. So don't let this temporary dip in the kite market dampen your spirits - look for the positives. The way I see it you love your new gear - so much so that, just like the caffiene, you need a regular fix - and there's nothing wrong with that. A nice crisp kite to get your blood pumping and amped for the next session. Not only are you stoked, but so are plenty of others. The local kite shop guys are happy - they made another sale. The kite industry types are happy - they get to design and manufacture new kites, and the bloke who bought your second hand stuff - well he is super stoked. The gear may be old but it's better than the crap he used to use and he's amped for the next session too.

So forget the negatives, focus on the positives and get out there and buy some new gear.

BTW I am a tea drinker, it costs me about 3.50 for a diffuser thingamy.

Coffee is revolting 'gourmet mud' and yes, I am used to be treated poorly by baristas, in silly hats, that take themselves faaaarrr too seriously and fling a cr@ppy teabag at me.

Tea's alright but you've obviously never had a really good coffee, I mean a REALLY good coffee . I had one once and I've been trying to replicate it ever since. The elusive "god shot". Mmmm...

Yeh, I would agree that quite a lot of stuff out there isn't very good, it's what prompted me to start buying my own half decent gear and giving it a go.

Our local kite shop up here is actually now half kite shop half espresso bar... Pauly makes a pretty good cup of coffee.
