I'd like to practice self launching in a safe location so when I have to do it I feel confident.

I'm thinking of boat harbour (on the way to kurnell) from memory there is a large sand area which could be good for this. I don't mind paying the $18...

www.google.com:443/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode&q=kurnell&sll=37.926868,-95.712891&sspn=46.564992,61.171875&ie=UTF8&t=h&ll=-34.039929,151.199244&spn=0.006259,0.007467&z=17

Can anyone advise if this would be ok and which wind directions are ok for this or recommend another spot.

Thanks.

i took a friend to boat harbour a week or so ago to teach him how to self launch and land. Wind was southerly 18-20 knots. Its a good spot with lots of space but weekends are busy. Apart from one car of Kiters we were the only ones there.

Went down yesterday in a NE and dead off shore, gusty and swirling wind. Not good for anything kite related

hope this helps

While you are there, perhaps practice self landing as well.

Practice releasing your safety and going down on one line, if you practice this 100 or so times it could save you or someone else down wind of you one day.

I think it it one of the most unpracticed skills in kitesurfing.

Self landing is easy and I've had to do it quite a bit while on holidays in Brazil.

I have 2009 Cab IDS which makes self landing a breeze.

Thanks for infos.
