Hey all
For all those coming up for the downwinder from Eagle Bluff back to Denham in sunny Shark Bay. I reckon we should meet at the Heritage Pub ( the flash looking one on the the main drag) for beers and a feed on Saturday night. I'll probably see most of you on the water at some stage before hand, but it would be good to sus who's on and who's not. For everyone coming up give me a call on 0409107456 and we'll go from there. I've stopped feeding the Tigers in anticipation and have been praying to the God of Wind (who is that, Huey's the god of surf so who's the god of wind!!)so lets hope for an epic day. Looking forward to crew in the Bay and going nuts. Winds been good, had the NW this arvo and the next few days are looking joy.
Safe travel all.
Regards
Lurch

Lurch -

Really keen to join some locals for a downwinder. Where's the start point? My ability level is ok - safe, few jumps, fine up-wind (not required here I know!). Ride 9m crossbow, 12m boxer or 16m boxer. I have two others who would be keen too.

Starting point is a place called Eagle Bluff about 20 ks south of Denham. Its all shallow water all the way back to Denham. The best tides will be in the morning or later on in the arvo, midday looking a bit shallow, so I'm hoping the ssw will be kickin' in for the arvo. Bring it on, gimme a call and we'll sort it out.

Ian, thanks for hosting a great sail.

For those who haven't been lucky enough to sail Shark Bay .........
We started 20km up wind at Eagle Bluff. Think about that, 20km dead down wind, not 20km with the winds at 45 degrees as per the usual downwinder with a cross onshore.
Most of the sail was on dead flat water like the inside at Woodies. Incidentally, pretty much all of it was less than 2 feet deep, often much less.
6 kites zig zaging downwind, red cliffs in the background, warm(ish) water full of beasties ....... you got the idea.
If you missed out, its on again next year, Grand Final weekend.

Oh, and for those folk worried about our cartilaginous friends with large dorsal fins, relax. I'd be much more concerned about the fauna you'll find at the pub.

Hey Bruce
Cheers mate, I'm still buzzing from it. We had Big Lagoon last Wednesday arvo, did a downwinder down the channel and kited joy silky smooth water after that. The scenery was just bull*hit, 5-6 kites against beautiful blue water and red sandhills. Gotta do it next time your up, ask the crew who were there they will fill you in on the details.
As for next year BRING IT ONNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
See you soon
Ian

P.s. The pubs been getting worse!!
