I had a phone call from a young lady yesterday who's room mate borrowed her kite to "Have a go" whilst she was out at work.
She came home to a destroyed kite and an apology.

Even though that person may offer compensation, you're gonna be off the water until it gets sorted out which may take quite a while if they don't have the spare coin. If this is the case and it's your strong wind kite, be assured we will have two weeks of 25-30 knot winds and you'll miss the lot (murphy's law).
Alternatively, they get it repaired for $120, which drops the value of the kite by half what it was worth before the damage (devalued by $400).
Not great either way.
