The last flight I took out of Perth to Singapore (2 weeks ago,Qantas), I only had one carry on bag. The womand behind the counter was a absolute nazi and insisted on my bad being weighed. It was 2 kg over the limit so she made me check it in. A friend at the time had a great laugh at me as he was carrying one carry on bag as well but the woman he had didn't weigh it. But then as we went to go through immagration the security guy at the entrance made him weigh it and when he saw that it was overweight made him take it back and check in in. But when a young chick in a short skirt walked past with obviously more carry on then you are allowed, she was allowed to carry on without being checked.
I have also been smashed for excess luggage flying out of Brisbane on Emirates, it was for my kitesurfing bag which was 30 kilos. The thing which annoyed me was that I had already flown from Dubai to Brisbane and Whitsunday Island to Brisbane without any problem with the same amount of gear.
