Anyone know why...

SS TD's come in all sizes i.e. 8,10,12,14,16 whereas competitors have fewer kite sizes and more distance between the sizes e.g. Cabrinha 9,12,16

SS TD wind ranges published on the ss website look very similar to traditional kite wind ranges.

Am I missing something here (I am working on athe assumption that the SS TD and the Cabrinha's are similar kites)....?

ss tds have the same wicked depower as most bow kites but slingshot being slingshot have gone one further then most most companies by adding more choice and improving things e.g. the bars and quality.

the turbo diesels wind range is huge, it has the same depower as all other bows but the light wind power it has is incrediable, i was riding the 12 and had as much power as what i did on the 17 fuel, 16 octane and only a bit less than what i had on the 20.5 machine, the biggest differance from the crossbow is the bar, the std bar is very simple and convient, it has all the safety options but just twice as similar and it has the added bonus of one pump

i dont mean to be picky, but:
why do so many people mix up "then" and "than" ?

multi-cultural degeneration - too many kiwis & SA'ns in the mix

jokin' aside - anyone thinking of flat kiting you just HAVE to check out the STD's 'Powerstroke' bar set-up before deciding which way to go.
Great piece of engineering ; so simple ; so effective ; so versatile - power lock anywhere you like, on the fly, & release it just as easily. "Bl**dy Brilliant - 10/10 SS"

really like the simplicity of the bar set up looks excellent. Will apparently fit all types of bow.
The price is shocking though.

I guess if you were a lite rider and wanted a two kite setup you might think the 9 & 12 would be a bit close, but you might not be heavy enough to want the 16,

Were as with the slingshot range you could go the 8 & 14 setup ?.

So I guess SS have made a design choice to offer the customer the best opportunity for your given weight to be able to pick a setup that will give you the best wind range and make the most of the kites.

I've got the 12m STD an would love to get the 16m, but there are none in teh country until mid Feb. So I am going to have to go with the Xbow 16 (don't want to miss a day's kiting for lack of toys). If anyone knows how I can get my hands on a STD 16m now, PLEASE let me know.

Cheers

Don't know why you'd want a 16 I got my new TD 12 and took it for a fly, just to see how it felt. Was amazed when in 10 - 11 knots it felt like it had enough power to go for a ride, now normally I be there with my 15 thinking down winder, or is it even worth getting wet, I'm 80Kg and ride a 132 but bugger me if I didn't start trucken up wind on the thing....

The impressive thing is the girlie is waiting for her TD10 to hit the store and gave the TD12 a go, now I’m thinking depower the sucker cause she only weighs 50Kg but hey away she goes no problems at all.

It's turned a 4 kite family into a 2 kite family, and you got to be happy with that.

how do the STDs' stack up to the other bows in terms of price? I heard they were around the 2g mark?

They are competitively priced with the other Bows.

Save for the GK which is cheap.

Although the TD seems to me to be the most teched up.

slingshot are waiting to produce a 16m that actually creates more power and is more effiecnt than than current 12 and 14 which is on the way rather than just produce a bigger kite that just produces as much power as the smaller ones
