Great photos. what sort of camera are you using and what filters if any... Pinnaroo is a great place to kite... The best and craziest shot is those guys jumping in the air at the same time... close...

can you tell us how the polarising filter goes with your lens at full zoom. i used one on an image stabilising lens with a uv filter (75to250mm with canon 60d) and at full focus i got a lot of blurring. at wide focus it was fine? can you help with any advice?

I don't think it's nothing to do with polarising filter in your case. It's to do with shutter speed.

Was your subject moving fast(sport) or stay still(portrait)?
Which camera mode did you use, AV, TV, Auto, manual,...
What is your lens aperture? etc, EF75-250 4-5.6 is

sport - surfing - but lots of light
no tripod
ef-s 55-250mm 1:4-5.6 IS lens at 250mm zoom
f/8
1:250 shutter - could have been the problem also
iso 100
manual mode

I seem to get less blur in these same situations without the polarising filter. back to testing it with a tripod i think and faster shutter speed.

That's what I thought and here is how to fix it....(my English is not very good but I will try)

For hand held shooting rule without IS

Full frame sensor : shutter speed = focus length
1/60s or faster = 55mm
1/250s or faster = 250mm
Full frame sensor, the setting for shutter speed should be equal or faster than focus length

Crop frame sensor shutter speed = focus length * 1.6
60d has 1.6 factor 1/100s or faster = 88mm ( 55mm*1.6 )
1/400s or faster = 400mm( 250mm*1.6 )
You have canon 60d. It's crop frame sensor, the sensor is smaller than full frame. When you are using 55mm lens, it is equal to 88mm focus length (55mm multiply by 1.6)

As you can see with your setting for 55mm as equal to 88mm and your shutter speed setting is 1/250s this is no problem for your shoot. (but if you have fast moving subject not far away from camera you still can get blurring)

So for your 250mm as equal to 400mm focus length and your setting is 1/250s that is too low. That is why you get a blurred shoot.

Are you with me? Now back to when you take action shorts, you need faster shutter speed to stop the action. For general action shoot shutter speed shouldn't be below 1/800s and that you have to learn by practicing. I will be there again this afternoon for practicing.

i should have been using a min 1/1000 i think plus a tripod
the shot was about 300m away
ill put the filter back on a see what i can do

That's no problems.
If you do use tripod turn off the IS. The Polarized filter helps to get a rich blue sky and make the clouds pop and more.... For the full effect the sun must be behind the lens and it doesn't work in the cloudy day. You can see some of the photos here, on the left of the sky is white and on the right side of the sky is blue because the sun is on the left of the lens. Well hope you now are a happy shooter.
