Have owned my wipika 5m. 2 line kite for a good 8 or 9 years now looking at making my kiting fun.

Weighting a total of 52kgs ATM at 160cms short. Was thinking I could almost get away with 1 12 to 14 kite for all my needs. Mainly want to get out in surf/freestyle.

just get any 12m four line you can lay your hands on.
although lou wainman did some unequalled stuff on a 5m 2 line.
inspirational stuff.

Firstly Ladies, sorry I was trying to talk in a way Ernie can understand and in his world you are all bitches and hoo's.

Sorry Kitehard u missed it!

greenleadeder after looking around and not being a lazy prick for the last 8 years I think I have decided on a 10 or a 12m...want something tough enought for the surf and that I can ride anywhere...anytime.

Assuming you live in Perth 12m is too big at just over 50kg. I'd look to a 9m tops. You'll probably be able to get going from 18 knots at your size. Good kites are easy to find - I'd say nearly all brands are worth your $, just got to work on what type you want.

All good brooksy, done a **** load of thinking and worked out alot has to do with how strong 1 may be. For example I might be 52kgs but I may pull 80kgs lat pulldown, compaired to a lady the same weight, but can only pullldown 40kgs.

Do you give her the same kite that may be suited to me? I...Didn't think so.

Starting to think for the time being, just shortening my lines and treat my kite more like a windsurfer!!! Until I can afford what I want.

sorry dude but from what I can gather, upper body strength has absolutely jack sh1t to do with anything unless youre unhooking or passing. If youre riding hooked-in, its youre ability to hold an edge which may come from body weight or strength in your legs.
Also, do a search on the forum about short lines and you will find a lot of posts regarding this. I tried 15m lines and found that it didnt do much for your wind range, but the kite was far more controllable when overpowered as it flew to the edge of the window faster. Lots of fun though...definitely something to try.
