Just to update people, the following was forwarded to me from Coastcare (David Palandri)..........in essence, I have been negotiating for a proper access ramp for 6 months, and I suspect we are not too far from achieving it.

Hi John,

Following a conversation with Ian Young I am of the understanding that
at recent meeting of the WA Kite Surfing Association, of which you
Chaired, the issue of the South Cottesloe Foreshore was discussed.

The impact of Kite surfing on the dune system has been of concern to
both Cottesloe Coastcare Association and the Town of Cottesloe for some
time. During that period we have held discussion with Bruce Marks and
discussed possible options for managing the increased use of the area.
Of particular concern is foredunes adjacent to Marine Parade and Rosendo
St.

I am currently working with Cottesloe Coastcare Association and the Town
of Cottesloe to obtain funding for a multi-use wooden ramp to be
installed at the end of Rosendo St, South Cottesloe. This ramp will
address the issue of dune degradation and public safety by providing
appropriate access for kite and windsurfers in the area.

My reason for contacting your organisation is for two matters;

1. I would appreciate feedback from your organisation on the proposed
wooden ramp design as to the suitability for use by kite surfers. We are
currently obtaining quotes for construction based on Australian
Standards, however I would like to provide those designing the ramp
better specs to suit use by kite surfers.

2. I noted on the seabreeze.com forum that your organisation has
discussed becoming actively involved in restoring the damaged dune area
at 'Cott phone box'. An opportunity for this currently exists and I
would like to involve your organisation from the onset.
