Going Sking next week, Staying in Thredbo.

Does anyone have any experience and knowledge of kiting from the top of Thredbo.

I'm wondering if its worth taking my old Arc foil 1120, to kite on the top range on a nice afternoon, sub 10 knots, or maybee the top of the golf course run.

I will be by myself, I'm an strong skier 30 years experience, average kiter 1 season.

Will the lifties let me on with the kite?, will the ski patrol try and nick my ski ticket?

I can't help you much with any of the aforementioned Q's

But.

I am staying in Berridale and would be quite happy to meet up and try our luck.

I am also a proficient skiier and not bad kiter.
I've got my foil down here, they say a 5 or 6 metre should be fine on the average day.

let me know.

Ive decided to take the kite, Im down at Thredbo all week with the wife and kids.

I will be skiing most days with the kids so I cant really want to make any firm arrangemetns.

But if there is a nice day I'll give it a shot and see what happens.Nice as in sunny and low winds say 10knts. Ive walked to Kozzi a several times in summer but I appreciate it looks totally different in winter. Im not expecting to go to far, just tack back and forth and experiment a bit.

The BOM has a few fronts coming through in the early part of next week, so it will probably be a bit windy down there.

Hi There

I've been snow kiting out the back for a few years .In my experience its either nukin or nuthin and if your lucky you'll get a day of pure magic 15 -25 kts clear and sunny.
The forcast is lookin like nuking for the whole week unfortunately (plenty of snow from Tues night onwards too)but things might be settling down by Fri /sat with lots of freshies .
The lifties are OK with you taking your kite up to the top of crackers (if they ask tell them what it's all about )I usually just buy a one way $26 but if you just want to have a go take a bit out of your day on the mountain because you might get a one way and there is no wind (ask the girls at the ticket counter to check the wind or get on the net and see what the trend has been
I have always gone outside Thredbo boundaries up the valley on the way out to Kosi ,Top of Karels isn't too bad either but make sure you are well clear of the bullwheel.
A great spot is over the ridge at the top of the valley heading out of thredbo you head right following the snow poles to Charlottes .I would not recommend that you do this on your own and if you injure yourself if you go with someone else or a group its a long way back.

Have a good week

Cheers
