Go to the nearest feral primary school. The junkies are probably giving them to their kids for school bags.
Lol.

why do you leave money in your kite bag???

if you need to have cash, put it in your pocket...

I watched a sketchy dude flog some backpackers belongings, at st kilda, during sailmelbourne.

they caught up with him.

If your smart, just leave the pump on the beach or even put it back in your car.

pretty simple. is it not

This is what I don't understand, if people didn't leave money, phones, camera's etc in there kite bags the low lifes wouldn't target them as much.

Leave them at home, in your car or take them with you kiting but don't leave valuables in an unattended bag on a public beach.

And if you don't have a car? I'm on the opposite side of the fence. I'd like to think we live in a country where we can have a kite without some lowlife stealing. What next? Breaking into cars?

It can't be that hard to keep a watch out and catch a couple of the bastards in the act.

Someone will always leave a bag on the beach. It could be a tourist or out of towner, I don't think we should be accepting this crap.

unfortunately we do live in a country like this....
I hate it as much as you, but it happens.
And according to seabreeze, WA have cars broken into and certain spots.

If you catch the bus/train/tram/pushbike down thats all cool, just dont leave anything in your bag worth stealing.

I leave my pump and bag down the beach but thats it.
if your desperate enough to steal a ****ty kite bag then go for it, but mines got nothing else of value in it.

I'd say, in Melbourne, we've got it pretty good - hardly hear of gear going missing on the beach and car break-ins seem to be a rarity. Maybe ask the guys at the kiteschool vans to look after a wallet/phone if you need to? If you rig up next to Catani gardens then there is more chance of your stuff going missing - the picnic shelter there is pretty much continuously occupied by homeless people, you have a busy footpath within 5 m of where you rig up - just asking for someone to jump over the bluestone wall and nick your stuff. Remember, it only takes one jerk...

By all accounts WA have it far worse, at many of the beaches your stuff isn't even safe inside a locked car and many of the guys leave their windows down and doors unlocked so they don't end up with a smashed window!

the bag was full of sand and a pump... doesn't seem to make a difference. keep an eye out for each other and question people who are clearly out of place.
