Good turn out, no wind either day, so no results.

Good sausages.

Glen Hooper, event organiser, put on a superb show for all but forgot to chant to the wind gods or sacrifice a new kite the day before the comp, so:

Official Results:

1. Number of registered competitors: 32
2. Strongest wind gust for both days of competition: 5 knots NNE
3. Strongest wind gust on day after comp finished: NNE 32 knots
4. Number of heats run: 0
5. Placings: All competitors in all divisions: Equal First Place
6. Longest run of the day: Steve McCormack -- (rescued from other side of Wallis Lake 5km from shore after a 15 minute downwind run on Saturday)
7. Longest time on the water with a kite in the air: Dave Sorenson on a 25m Slingshot Machine - estimated time: 20 min. Biggest trick: backroll
8. Most RedBulls consumed in one afternoon: Thomas Regan, age 13 (6 -- followed by a near-anxiety attack...)
9. Longest kitelines: Rob -- 57m on 16m Slingshot Octane which delivered five simultaneous kiteloops but not quite enough power to go upwind in 3 knots.
10. Coolest Kitevan: Zebb and Libby (converted Postal delivery vehicle bearing no resemblance to it's former self, now fully COOL, complete with three internal disco balls)
11. Best Crash -- Sean 'Happy' Craike -- after being towed into the KitePower Slider by jetski and losing it half way across and landing on his back on the pipe.
12. Funniest poolside trick: Ben -- in fully dry clothes, crash tackling Louie into the pool, who'd already been thrown into the pool 2 min before. (Hey Ben, it's only funny it the guy hasn't been in the pool already!)
13. Best "Back of the Head" photos -- Michelle "I hate photographs"
13. Best barbie guys: Glen Hooper and Lee Kavanagh -- (don't think they ever ate anything but they cooked everything that got within half a metre of the barbie!)
14. Best pub trick: Ben -- getting bashed by a local chick at the RSL after first having his clothes ripped off on the dance floor followed by getting a clump of hair ripped out when he declined to go to her place.

(Accepting additional nominations from anyone present for more "Best, funniest, coolest etc." Email me at [email protected])

Thanks to all the competitors who came and kept the event in good spirits, despite the wind performance. On an unofficial note, we anticipate that, despite not being able to run the comp and get a State Titles result, anyone who wants to compete at the National Titles in Melbourne should be able to get a place in the event. We'll confirm this with the National Organising Committee and post the results at http://www.nswkba.com.au as soon as we know for sure. Check back regularly for updates.

Many thanks to all the sponsors, contributors and volunteers who put in their time, effort and $$$s to ensure that everyone enjoyed themselves, including: Sundowner Tiona Holiday Park, X-Shore Kiteboarding, Headzone, Slingshot, F-One, The Professionals Foster-Tuncurry, Poets Corner, KSA Designs, RedBull, and the NSWKBA organising committee.

Thanks also to all who came and joined in with the fun and festivities. An excellent group of people that made the weekend what it was, a good time.

We are currently working on a wind machine for next comp with a longer extension lead.

All the best

And a really huge thanks to you and Michelle, and all the other locals who's names I cannot remember, who helped out. If there had been wind people would have been saying this was the best state titles ever.
And they were the best state titles, with no wind, you have set a standard!
Loooking forward to coming back some time.

Cya and

Goodwinds
