Most people seem to do a decent DIY job with a hole saw and resin.
I myself did a horrible job on an old board, however it still works and the straps hide the ugliness

I bought an epoxy board from SOS and they had a guy who could do it. Didn't happen overnight but was a top job.

He put in threaded plugs for ease of removal of straps to convert back to surfboard.

I am super happy with it.

The converted 6'2" board works an absolute treat i would recomend it to anyone. Surfboards work best in the surf.........it is as simple as that.

My mate could probaly do it for you for a cheap price. He put inserts into an old 6'0 board and pretty much has it down pat.
Ill get in touch with him if you like.

Yeah, he said that is totally cool.
He'll put the inserts in although you will have to supply the straps preferably before the inserts go in.
If anyone else is interested, just send me an email.

Cheers
Dan

Whoever invents a strap system to go on surfboards;
that doesn't require inserts or fixtures permanently attached to the deck,
is instantly removeable,
connects simply,
and locks on positively,

will receive the Nobel prize.

1. SOS was cheap, so top job doesn't necessarily mean expensive.

2. Latest Kiteboard Mag (I think it is KB- has a skinny funny looking chick in a yellow top holding a green paint brush on the cover) in their gear review show a new strap system that you superglue a thin base plate on the the deck of a surfboard which then has a remaovable strap so can still be used as a surfboard. Seemed to me to be a really good idea for those wanting to try the straps on a surfboard concept to see if they like it.

If someone tries them a write up in the gear review would be good.

those cheap plastic chopping boards are the go.....cut it into squares, double it up and get these nuts with a wide base plate which you melt into the bottom (easy to find in bunnings). then get stainless bolts that fit the thread.
Bindings on and your away for around $10

best to try on an old piece of **** but the end result works really good and you can easily transform back to surfboard.
