Hi all,

I am an intermediate kiter and looking to get into the surf style. Can you suggest the best type (size, style) to get that will help with my progression. I am larger style kiter (100kg) so would also use the board to get me out on most days as well.

Cheers

Im the same weight as you.

I have an older Slingshot Verve which is solid as a rock and has plenty of float. I also have a North Wam which is sensational though I find it better as a quad (more drive) i run Simon Anderson large quad fins in it. Great board for waves though if you want to jump a bit as well Id lean towards the Verve but not as manouverable.

Try and use any board you can get your hands on.

I've found every board offers something different, and there is no "right" board, although it is easy to develop a favourite.

You could lean towards more volume to get your on the plane earlier, which also make it more forgiving, but it also makes it bouncy once you get up to speed, and won't turn as easy from trying to sink all that volume when carving hard.

A thin board will be fast and whippy, handle more wind, but maybe not so good when winds are light. But.... it will force you to refine your technique.

Wider boards offer different earlier planing, thinner boards more speed. Flatter boards for more speed, boards with more rocker for steeper waves...

As Ellobuddha says, then there's fin choices.

There are some great times ahead for you, checking out different boards!

On it goes .. never settle!
