Fellas,

Has anyone been down kiting on the Swan recently?

I am going kiting in Lucky bay this week with a couple of windsurfing mates and I was wondering if the river is currently full of jellies as it can be at some times of the year.

I ask because I am entering my first FULL season of kiting and am likely to spend a fair bit of time off the board in the water.

I am not a huge fan of body draggin through a few thousand jellyfish

Cheers

DUDE, if you have an option: Don't kite river while your learning.
Hit, Pinnaroo
Leighton
Woodies (first carpark)
Safety Bay/Pengoes
Or Mandurah region (use this site to catch up with some local crew to see you through the area)
Hope this helps

I don't mind body dragging through the jellyfish. It's nose planting into them with an open mouth or slicing them into pieces with the bar and then getting a face full which gets me dry reaching.

VB's suggestion to stay away from the river if your learning is spot on. Check out the site guides on the www.waksa.org.au website.

Fellas,

Cheers for the advice.

To be honest I was a bit apprehensive about kiting on the river at this stage in my learning because i believe the wind here may be an offshore wind in a normal SW. Fine for my windsurfing mates, but no so good when you are learning to kitesurf.

I may give it a miss given the potential jellies and safety aspects. Perhaps I will shoot down pinneroo and drag to mullaloo as my first outing this season.

Cheers
Lemm
