Its always good to be optimistic. Here is the Coastalwatch forcast for for Qld / N NSW:

By Sunday morning there will be nowhere to hide from the swell. The bulk of energy will kick in at eight foot plus across exposed locations with periods of nine to eleven seconds allowing for plenty of refraction into the bays and points, which should see surf ranging from three to five feet depending on location.

By Monday the swell is still likely to be heavy across the region and a shift in swell direction to the SSE will gradually become more pronounced during the day, tending SE by Tuesday.

Latest Virtual Buoy runs suggest wave heights may reach a peak of 8 – 10ft across south facing locations late Sunday/ early Monday and combined with the SSE swell direction this could translate into stronger four to six foot surf inside the bays and points.

However, these projections appear overly optimistic and are contingent on the Tasman low remaining very intense and slow moving in the central Tasman throughout Saturday, driving a strong SSE fetch towards the region into Sunday.

alright heres the scoop.
waves were firing on saturday as the swell was increasing with offshore wind great surfing to be had. today was super massive, i tried to kite but it was to offshore and the wind died so i bailed my kite luckly it washed in, i still had my surfboard with me out the back so i surfed a couple and came in. i heard that the swell isnt very big at the gold coast. tommorow might be a better day for kiting with less swell and more crosshore wind. lets hope so.

Was BIG and CLEAN and OK for surfing at Port Macquarie. The wind was WSW, to Off Shore and very gusty. Hopefully it will clean up over the next few days.
Would have been an epic day for Tow Surfing with a couple of local spots showing some great potential. Southwest Rocks will be epic over the next few days.
With the swell forecast to hold, conditions are going to be awesome for those brave enough to venture out.

swell was epic early as it was offshore with the odd 10 to 12foot + bombs

went out to a spot that rarely breaks about 1.5 km out on my stand up paddle board as i got closer to the takeoff realised how big it really was when i nearly got caught by a monster

ended up catching a few big drops and fat walls then ended up being destroyed after i paddled for a wave and missed it then turned to see the next one was massive

got nailed lucky my leggie didnt snap mate told me he got it on video complete with all the crew on the hill laughing

wind ended up picking up after ten

went in thinking of going for a kite but wind was too strong in the end

looked at the swell just before dark and it looks like its getting bigger

dont have to work tomorrow yeah!!!!

i too want a jet ski for xmas

Was gunna drive to lennox but I didnt... spewing now. Hope you had fun boys. Saturday was alright for wind in the Sunny Coast, it was really light onshore but offshore was great. There was nothing for the first 150m or so then it picked up and was actually quite strong once you were a fair way from land. I got paranoid as there was no leash on my kite and when I was about 1km out I kept thinking my chicken loop would fail or something would happen and I would loose my kite.

Poor skeggs was the most keen on going out and he had problems about 5minutes into the run, and had to go in. A few fun waves still about now for surfing.

Hey Richard should have called you........

Saturday was wild but got some great waves at the Back Beach (Black Head) with some good overhead ones right off the reef surge, some well double overhead +, and running right into the bay and it's wind shadow. With Cross Off conditions i was well powered on my 7m and new 5'6" strapped Aboards Surfboard. Sunday was a regular surf on the other side of the point with some absolute bombs. Took out my 6'6" but should have had my 7 footer by the end of the session.

Got some photo's of the weekends conditions but none of the kiting as I was to busy riding. Should have left the camera with Tony on the beach who left in the pouring rain watching.

Photos of conditions: http://www.xshore.com.au/index.php?option=com_zoom&Itemid=83&catid=17

Can't wait for the next swell.

Glen
