Is it possible to put any four lined bars on four lined kites? I am considering buying a 16 meter turbo diesel kite and just using my bar and lines from my 12 meter Switchy II.
Assuming the bar length is correct, would this be advisable or not?
Cheers,

Bar length, depower throw, line length and flag-out are the four things you need to look at.
If it's a match on those four (or close enough to) then you should be good. Just it's worth watching which line and how the different kites flag out for safety.

I agree with Koma.
Bar length doesn't even really matter so much.
But I don't know anyone who flies such big kites anymore. Tried a bigger board with your 12?

Yep you can switch bars as said, but fly a 16m turbo diesel first, they are dead slow and no fun, you would be better off with a max 14m and a bigger board, flying a 16 TD is like flying a 22m c kite, bigger is not better its boring, depending on your weight ability etc. I am 90k and my biggest kite is a 13m waroo, which replaced my 16m lift and 20m rhino. Much more fun as the kite actualy moves when asked and not 5 mins later.
See if you can try before you buy, you will be shocked at how slow these big bow kites are.
Get a 13m and a nobile 135 x 47 much more fun.

Thanks guys,
Maybe I will give it a miss then. I just don't like rocking down to Botany and finiding that the wind is just too light for my 12. Maybe I'll start taking my surfboard down with me for those occasions.

Good chance your bar will work, but I'm not totally sure. By adding longer pigtails, it is probable that you can make it work. I wouln't be turned off a 16m kite yet though.
I've got an 07 16m Shockwave, and I love it. I would never be without a 16m kite. Like all big kites it dosn't fly the fastest, or turn the fastest but the jumps are super long and floaty. If you want to try new tricks in low wind, a 16m will be a great stable option. Back rolls were easier to learn for me, as the kite dosn't want to zip off somewhere as soon as you pull on the bar.
Sure smaller kites are preferable if the wind is up, but if the wind is low then a big kite gets my vote over a big board.

Tom, try my 15m waroo some time. It will get you going in light wind no worries & it handles really well for a large kite. If you pick up a waroo without the bar you can use your switchblade bar for sure, I use my SB2 bar on the waroo.

I had a similar post on here regarding using a Cabrinha bar ( SB3 ) on a 11m Fuel. I checked the line lengths as advised and put her up.
No problems now I only ever fly the Fuel on the Cab bar. ( obviously I had to do away with the fith line )

turbo diesel is 2:1 bar setup. Your switchy 2 is 1:1.
You will not have enough sheeting range for the turbo diesel with your bar. Your bar will probably be too short as well.
