Any newbies in the northern beaches area?

The guy i usualy kite with is going away for a bit and i dont think i want to try my hand at self launching, + its just dangerous doing it alone.
Im still working on the getting up on the board part.

So if any northern beashes kiters want to meet up sometime next week weather permitting for a session let me know.

Cheers

just go to longreef or narrabeen beach if there is wind, if the wind its good enough someone will be there to help.

when you get a bit better, fishermans beach will become an option. its not ok to learn there though.

PS - dont learn / kite at manly :)

cheers

yeh, iv been going to long reeef and narrabeen. The reason i posted "newbies" is because i didnt want to burden any experianced kiter. I can imagin how hard it is to constantly be keeping an eye on a learner and helping him launch land etc.

If you are kiting on your own,you are going to the wrong place,or the wrong time!

Just go where others are kiting. If the wind is any good someone will turn up.
Self launching is not really dangerous...as long as you know what you are doing. It sounds like you don't know what you are doing. Have you had a proper lesson ?
Its really bad to be trying to learn with another newbie, the blind leading the blind.....double trouble !

Once again, just go where other kiters are and watch how they do it.
You could even ask them to explain what they are doing.

dude. if your at long reef just come up and say hi, there are heaps of friendly kiters and we'd rather you came and said hi and got some help when you need it. All the guys that kite there are all friendly and won't give you and stick.

It also helps to know peoples names if they ever have to come and rescue you. ;)

seriously don't worry about it

Well there you go!No frigin idea!

Narrabeen in a Westerly ??? WTF?

You did not see any kites because YOU CAN'T KITE at a surf beach when its offshore!

Mate, you are headed for big trouble if you don't heed our advice!
Go somewhere that there are OTHER KITERS !

Been out on the Pitt @ Barren Joey this arvo and caught a couple of south westerly down winders. The flat water left to BJ is a good spot for beginners and best with a south westerly.

That is NOT a good spot for beginners!!

It is not a reccomended spot for anyone!

Can get SUPER gusty in a Westerly, and no room for error.
Many EXPERIENCED kiters would not go there.

And lex123,don't chide me about my manners! I am trying to save you from trashing yourself,or worse someone else! You have been given advice, but it seems wasted!
You seemed surprised that there were NO kiters at Narrabeen! In a Westerly ??? FFS!!! If there is no one out ,there is probably a good reason!

Lex,

The Northern Beaches only has one decent beach for a southerly in Winter -that is Long Reef. HOwever, given that there isn't that much room, and there's normally a bit of swell, it isn't the best place to learn. The best place, with more flexibility for wind WWS, SW, SSW, S, SE, is Boat harbour opposite Kurnell. Go through the 4xDrive park there. Its mostly flat water and as you kite further south it sweeps round to Wanda with the swell and waves picking up as you go.

That will be your best bet for Winter Learning.

Cheers

I will second that!

Go to Boat Harbour, excellent spot for learning. There will usually be someone there if the wind is good.

You don't need a 4 wheel drive. There is a car park about 150 metres from the rig up spot.

$16 to get in.Worth it !
