Coming to Syd tonight to see some friends.

Is there anywhere that handles big SSWlys or am I better heading home to the coast? What is the boat harbour like? does it have waves? do I need a 4wd for access etc?

Pete.

Boat Harbour or Wanda is where you want to be. You can drive a 2wd out and park just behind the beach if you dont have a 4wd. (Boat harbour). If you want waves go to Wanda. It should go from 2ft to 8ft pretty quick when that SW kicks through. Should be fun

Hey Pete,
Usually when the forcast is like it is for sunday the ocean beaches are a bit ugly and most people go for a kite at dolls point in the bay. Sometimes with the big swell some nice little waves come marching across half the bay and it is awesome fun. You need to be pretty competent kiter so you can stay upwind of the wind shadow (as its a bit cross off) and the next stop is the airport!!
Last saturday's southerly with 4m waves, about 5 of us went out at Wanda and it was full on. A lot of water moving around and crazy gusty wind... most of us lasted about 20 minutes. I would say come down to the local KP shop and meet up with the fellas who are keen or give them a ring 9529 6894 and find up what the plan is.

Wanda is east facing with a touch of south in it. SW is usually straight down the beach. The shore gradually changes to south facing at boat harbour. Too onshore for big swell in my opinion.

Thanks mate, but none of that really sounds as appertising as coming home (last weekend was probably the best session for about 8 or so months, so i dont think I really want to risk missing it again chasing some monster beachies).
