I think we all have been wondering the same thing...

2 weeks without decent wind.

NOW, haha. Even though it doesn't seem like it.

Wind usually between Oct - Mar with Jan/Feb arguably the best??

If you were here in Jan, we had probably 5 seabreezes a week at the bay. Then this stupid front came on and we haven't had any for about 2 weeks (unless you count those anoying, gusty, unreliable Southerlies). Hoping we will get another few weeks of solid NE'rs though.

Winter sux, you may get the occasional Southerly (which are OK), or a Westerly (I haven't found a location in Sydney to kite them yet), so I don't even bother.

I just pack away my kite and stick to the surfboard. Enough waves to keep most happy. Try FNQ in winter for wind

we have 2 seasons, the first and by far the best is the summer season, from about the start of october till about the end of march. This season consists of mainly noreasters and soueasters. Usually you will average about 4+ kiteable days a week.

For the rest of the year april -september is what I call the winter season, which consists of mainly westerlys nw to sw. These winds are generally quite gusty, but you can get really nice westerlys. You need a location that you can ride westerlys in to take advantage, which arent all that common around sydney. I usually get out on average about at least once a week during this time. Last year we had about a 10 day period around july where I got good sesions in everyday, with consistant 18-20 knots westerly winds everyday. Weeks like them are rare though.

bennie is spot on.... For the Westerlies I drive North....Picnic point - 1 hour from North Sydney.
Some seasons are better than others... this summer has been fantastic, whereas last season sucked.

newcastle has great westerly spots in winter, summertime is great fun and this season we got a good period of strong NE's. don't throw away winter just yet i am sure that you could find a spot in sydney or a short drive away.

Whats the chances of a little bit of wind at Botany today? Seems that you add 3-5 knots on top of forecast for that area, or will the sotherly this morning kill anything brewing?
