This morning (Sat.) I looked at Seabreeze and thought it was a bit gusty... better stay safe and at home rather than risk injury. Later I noticed both on Seabreeze and BOM there was a 36kn gust about 1pm... holymotherofgod... does anyone have experience with Sydney/Botany and how to foresee this type of condition? I soo do not want to be out there in times like these....

I was running lessons at 1 today and there were no stray 36 knot gusts that i saw. I don't think the wind got over 22knots as people were out kiting on up to 16m kites and knowone got inileated. The wind was a typical SWer shifting around to SE and back and it wasn't anything special. Generally the wind gauges at the airport and Kurnell, little bay, etc can be off once in a while and they are usually 5 knots stronger than the wind actually is most of the time. Don't take the readings as gospel but more of a guide as to whether it is worth coming down to the bay or not.
Some people got out today for a sail but i don't think many people thought it was very fun so the net probably saved you some frustration.

Maybe it was some jet-wash from the airport? Those jets can put out some serious thrust and I guess once in a while some of that might hit their official anemometer.
I went down to Dolls Pt yesterday (Saturday) at about 6 and there was nobody there except for a single PL Venom who was packed up by the time I was ready to launch. The breeze was a little gusty but with all the flat water to the south of the point to myself I had a fun session. I was on an 11m sonic. It was the first time I've ever had to self launch and self land at Dolls Pt...

Yes Sat winds were nothing special. Rode till about 6 on a 15m using a big 206 directional and just barely staying upwind. Winds were between 10 to 15 knots.
