Hey all.

I'm very new to kiteboarding. Is there anyone here on this site that can put me in contact with people who live and kite in Tassie. Just looking for like minded people to hook up with for kiting so I dont go out on my own and do something stupid.

Cheers.

Have a look on the web, I've been trying to find fellow kiters in Tasmania for nearly a year and as of yet not found any....but I know they're out there somewhere! Try www.xsport.com.au

Let me know if you find anyone!

They are as rare as the Tasy tiger! The odd sighting here and there should be treated with suspicion.

I thought I saw a couple of guys at Marrawah in January?

Best thing to do is to build a topic and list of details, main location etc on this site. We did that in Melbourne last season for Downwinders and lets everybody SMS where they are going and who's going etc.
Suggest Name or Nickname, Mob No. Local Kiting Area(south, east, northwest, north coast etc.)
and just build a contact list.
I'll be moving to Tassie in a week, based in Launceston so see you all then.

Also worth adding your kiting locations(geographically) to Extreme Kites which has a good data base of kiting spots land and sea all over Aussie.

Cheers

im building a house in ulverstone so am planning on moving there in about 18 months... im gunna miss the perth sea breeze... but it should be ok off ulverstone (with a huge kite & thick wet suit) a bit onshore.

when i was there over xmas... i was told the stanley area is very popular with the windsurfers (as is port sorrel)

One way to meet other kiters is at www.kitesurftasmania.com.au.tt

It's a hidden secretive place that does not appear on any search engines for some bizarre reason, the photos might explain that.

We often have Kite weekends all around the state, sort of a club I guess you could say with guys from all over the state.

Good way to meet other kiters, try gear, find spots etc.

Andrew, it'll be good to catch up, Off Ulverstone are some of the best bombies around, actually the whole North-West is a pumping place.

Other guys are in Hobart, post on the crappy forum, your post wont get lost there and you'll find other guys around your area.

Cheers,
Sam
