Very Big thank you to Mike,

for rescuing a mates kite late this afternoon in his little boat !!

And a big thank you for giving us a ride back from Bribe Island.

Just a shame i lost my kite out there (thanks for trying

I am hoping it will wash up on the beach either tonight or tomorrow morning.

(2009 Green 11m Waroo) in case someone sees it.

We were riding on the bar at Caloundra, my LE popped on a crash and it was stuck in the current, wound up my lines and was going to get towed in by a mate, he lost his kite in the process and another guy was trying to get my kite but couldn't.

We ended up on bribe island and thats when Mike came to the rescue.
Cheers,

Simon

Good on ya! Mike,
Nice new web-site, looks good. I hear you might have some more big brands knocking on you door for 2010.

Thanks Simon and Jonno.

Theres a few improvements coming to the website soon but the next news is the 2nd issue of Thriller is about to happen next week. there will be some e news regarding Thriller and other stuff very soon. sign up for the news if you havent already.

While im here - if anyone has a large kite for sale i know someone keen. looking for a 17ish in good condition with full depower capability.

other good news (for kiters) is that the dreaded red bouy has been washed away from caloundra passage in recent king tides and mega seas. Not so good for boaties but the prime freestyle territory that it sat in the middle of is now clear and hazard free. I'm told Marine safety are working on replacing it soon. here is a map that was published in last issue of Thriller and received overwhelmingly positive feedback from locals. its really only important for the busy days but its a growing sport and i suggest next summer we will see big crowds in caloundra as usual.

I'm often there with the boat during lessons, but dont assume i can/will rescue you from the bar - the waves are often too gnarly for my craft. While i do look out for people, and will do what i can, please dont take unnecessary risks. i was woried last week for a bunch of relatively new kiters who were exploring the waves at Caloundra Bar. its not a good idea! its a full one place that needs maximum respect. People are regularly drowned there, with the current and waves working together to keep you in the impact zone. On this occassion it was squally winds, and after the clouds pass there was a predictable dead spot. Ive been caught out there in big waves and no wind. its costly on gear at the very least, prhaps costly on your health or life. treat the red zones on the map with extra care, only kite the surf zone in good predictable winds. if youre learning the ropes in teh waves, dont do it here. we have sooo many good wave spots that are not so deadly. Same goes for the bar at maroochy river. Experts (and risk-takers) only.

Stay safe

I think it just comes back to the good old attitude of 'only take the risks if you're prepared to deal with the consequences'.

Unfortunately too many people take a cavelier approach to a lot of things and then expect others to come and pull them from the s**t when it all goes pear-shaped.

Use common sense people. It's a lack of this that leads to natural selection.

Big thumbs up for looking out for others though to you Mike, don't get me wrong.
