Took the new 10m Rhino out of the bag yesterday, big gusty westerlys. My plan to test out the new kite have a nice conservitive sesh at a spot I have never kited on before, just get used to the kite.
Eveything was going to plan until I decided to pull a big air way out by the end of the spit. Something went wrong ..kite looped(not used to the turning speed of this kite compared to my REBEL 14)hit the water and became impossible to relaunch. As it turned out I have a leak in the ribs somewhere so the kite just folded up.
A couple of dumb mistakes by me,( to far north, too far out on brand new gear, to early to try new things with new gear), but by now I am heading for Morten Island and no hope of returning to shore with my gear. As I was considering dumping my kite and board and swimming back to the mainland, a young bloke who I have never meet before turns up, checks out my kite works out we can't do anything with it, waits while i wind up the lines then kites in so I can grab the handle on his harness and tows me with kite under my arm across to the spite to start the long walk back.
Mikey also spots me in trouble gets a launch off the beach came out and picked up my board, which in the strong winds turned into a spinker and yanked him off his board. But he was able to get my board back to the spit Where Henry had walked out to assist also.
A massive THANKS to you guys. Its people like this that make participating in this sport all the moe rewarding. I have some damaged pride, cut Feet, my new leaky kite and my new underground board and a good feeling about the friends you make in this sport.
