When you have height and momentum, and realise that the kite is not going to catch you from the megaloop attempt.

I get the odd loop usually off the lip of a wave when I generate alot of height and forward momentum, however the kite just doesn't get there in time to save me. Doesn't happen on flat, just off a wave. Any ideas?

My bet would be not enough edge before launching when your coming off a wave.
Good luck with it you must have young bones

Agree with the turtle to add not enough edge so ya pendulating under the kite, so when you crank the loop, the kites not moving quick enough. I had the sam problem although I wouldn't say I was mega looping, more like I'm 40 oh sh1t gay lord looping, but therein pile is the same. Found if I edged real hard before take off, no probs. mostly.

Slight release in line tension when using a ramp for extra air? = slower loop rotation??

I haven't seem any science to back my claims up yet.

I remember my first accidental kite loop off a wave, going for the old back roll.

I remember being upside down and seeing my kite below me. I had a sore neck for weeks.

oh yeah, technical term of the week!. hahaha.

ps i'm to chicken to mega loop so i can't comment. but none the less i'll comment anyway.

Is it because your instigating the loop later? you might have thrown it earlier on the flat. As i said before i'm not mega loooping but i do transition kiteloop (oops new term gaylord looping) off wave lips and have the same problem sometimes of leaving the loop to late because i'd concentrated more on the wave lip than the loop its self.

Keep that edge, push the bar out at he bottom of the loop. Also make sure your lines are tuned correctly otherwise the kite can also stall.

Sounds to me like your jumping toward the kite too much and on the bar too late... Do it without the wave and pull it earliar
