I once read a book called The McDonaldisation of America. The main point of the book was that the concept of McDonalds was to save the customer time and money. However, over the years as McDonalds became trendy people actually waited in line and spent more money than if they had gone to the local diner.

Now to the relevance to kiting at Woodies. Our local and international "hot shots" are all going to Woodies offshore to "practice." The funny thing is they have to drive a bit, find parking, put up with thieves, wait forever in the line up, and all this in the dirtiest sand in WA. You all crack me up.........coming all the way from Europe to "live at Woodies" when there are thousands of kilometers of beautiful beach to explore in WA..............morons.

I agree to a point with Gruezi. But i will say one thing, there are not a lot of spots on this beautiful coast line that have the flat water that offshore side has. And for the lads out there and the "hot shots" that are getting into aggresive wakestyle and freestyle tricks, flat water is a big draw card. A little annoying loading up only to have a wave take your pop at the last sec of pulling the trigger.
JMHO.

There are loads of flat water spots along our coast.
I can think of three without even thinking.

Things to do when I get to W.A:

1. Find Puppett and get quite blind
2. Check out Marg river
3. Hook up Reli with my Nan
4. Buy copius amounts of alcohol
5. Ride woodies
6. Say g'day to Mick(kaos)
7. Not get locked up
8. Detox 1 day then back it up with more beers
9. Go fishing sober
10.
11.
12.

You are kidding right?. The SECOND thing on your list is to go to Margs??? Geee the WA tourism commission really has done it's job really well. If your'e a kiter, get OVER the South (except Esperence area) and head UP the coast NORTH of Perth.

Here's a suggested list (and reasons) when visiting WA to venture North

1. Better chance of not getting locked up as the cells are usually full of locals
2. Alcohol is widely accepted as a breakfast food choice
3. Woodies?. That's what you get in the morning from lack of use.
4. Detox? that's a stronbow sweet recipe I heard of once
5. Sober fishing? unheard of...
6. Kite in 30 knots because it's what you have to do most of the time (north of Perth)
7. Have a quad kite session - 7:00am session, then a big breakfast. 12:00pm session followed by a light lunch and siesta. 3:00pm session, early dinner around six. 7:00pm quickie, beer at sundown.
8. Ride some really big waves in really strong wind on a really small kite with really high levels of adrenaline pumping
9. leave your car unlocked and window down because us country folk just do that because it's easier, and we don't own expensive stuff or cars(WAY north of Perth)
10. Go home and thank God that you had what many just dream of...

You can keep the Poor Rel and Gruezi catch up for 11 & 12 as that will happen down south there somehwere in a place they call Perff. Somewhere like I'd rather be Upper Swan than Innaloo?.

No offence meant Perthite Suburbanites, you know you are always welcome up here with the Gero deroe's.

what do you expect when you leave timber structures lying around in the water over night, get over it.

Maybe Hosko you might approve of just hacking **** up if your opposed to it, but we spent a lot of time and money getting it all together and put it in a pretty secluded place and have had no one ask us to move it. It takes about 6 of us about 2 hours plus to get it from our house 5 mins down the road into the water, and then back again so its not really feasable to take in and out all the way home. If someone had a problem with it they should have come forward and said something, like a normal person, not hack at it with an axe like a bogan.

I am very sad to read this if it is true....and it does sound it.

I did this to the last structure (it was a kicker), but it was already desinigrating. I carried 5 garbage bags of PVC pipe to the car park and various "locals" took the bags home in their cars.

From the photos the slider looks mint....a great piece of work, the next one will be even better. I was seriously hoping to have a go.

Bring back the slider and make it even better

Yeah it's true, the ** just axed up the up and down section piping mainly and tipped it over. We will still have it ready for the weekend hopefully though and with improvements. To make it worse we were riding it until 8:30 pm then came down at 9:30am the next day and some one had done it.

I hate to think who had done it, surely not speed freak poleboarders? Agro fisherman? or plain bogans?

Who knows who did it.

My suggestion is to make sure you take all the bits home each and every night. As much as I understand your sadness, I can also see why your new "toy" may piss some people off.....like DEC or the City of Cockburn or a zillion other people who visit Woodies. But there is no denying the fact that it is a malicious and faceless character that did this.

Sounds like it must be the work of the same 'plain boguns' who do all the break ins.

Can't see a fisho, or poley or anyone else going to the trouble.

Too much like work for the "boguns" we know that do the breakins (there are other groups though).
If it really was an axe then it has to be a deliberate premeditated act. Nobody wanders around the end of Woodman Pt carrying an axe just in case there is something lying around to chop up ?????
Some sicko who is too gutless to front up to the crew with his problem. Pity the world carries this trash around. But pity the poor deadbeat himself too - pathetic, miserable, worthless piece of crap.
