Had a moment the other day when it picked up 10 or so knots and I had no chance at self landing my kite an had to ask a non kiting beach goer to grab it for me... Whilst explaining to him the ins and outs(all regarding his safety of course, for all the safety police shaking their heads already) i started to confuse my new best friend with details and so came up with an idea..
Put an orange marking(doesnt have to be orange, i just like the colour) on the leading edge in the middle so its just a simple "ill put the kite on the beach and all you have to do is grab it where the orange mark is"
Simple is best, and lets face it, were all pretty simple...
Please hold back on the self landing techniques advice, sometimes its just not possible...

Try self land like you were taught. -,-

Dude, why didn't you just pull your safety and walk in to your kite via the safety line?

Why would you put your kite through that much wear and tear and deal with holding onto your lines. Lose ya fingers like that mate.
Besides I ride suicide so if I press that particular button my whip is gone baby gone...

Well you hook onto your safety line when your ready to land !
Wear and tear? Releaseing to one line? For a pioneer you don't seem to know much !

Never a good idea to get a non kiter to land your kite dude! That's how people lose fingers not pulling the safety

You should put some tubed foam padding around your kite lines to, with bright yellow and black stripes so people can see them easier and know to avoid them

Whilst I would not recommend a non kiter landing your kite I can see the benefit of marking the spot for an emergency situation.

as a non kiter i helped land a kite the other day, and i guess a orange dot would have helped.

i'm sure the bloke could have done it by himself, but he was greatful for the help.

There are many ways to self land a kite but I watched this guys method sort of a ground anchor point. Before I begin I dont recommend this to anyone dont shoot the messanger but I have been using this method myself for a while it works well much better than asking an innocent person to help. He uses a piece of wood 450mm x 150mm x 12mm thick attached to the center through a hole is a rope about 2mtrs long with a carabena attached to the other end. He bury's the board in the sand to fully cover it at 90degrees to the the way the kite will launch. Sets up his kite and lines. hooks the carabena through the chicken loop and safety ring. Goes to the kite picks it up positions it to launch with all lines tight siting on one wing tip lets the kite go. Run back to the bar hooks in removes the carabena attaches the safety good to go. Trick Depower the Kite . he Can self land in strong winds main thing is ensuring the wood is berried deep enough and cannot be pulled out of the ground. This works best for the kite when wing tip is sitting on the water. Or just use a rope attached to something strong with a carabena attached. If you dont get this method or think its dangerous dont try it!
